Elle held it up and read it, “So your soul can soar.”

A hot cocoa mug clattered to the ground behind me.

Fuckers.

Elle’s eyes welled. “Oh, Lynx. Like the night we had sex on your bike.”

“My man,” said a relieved biker.

I told Elle, “That’s right. So you can remember the stars. Look.” I clicked a button, turning on the string of lights I had stuffed into the decorated bottle.

Hisses broke out, and one biker cried, “I can’t take it. Fucking stars in a bottle? Somebody save my VP.”

Looking so happy it made my heart soar, too, Elle kissed me. “This is the best gift ever.”

As they all gazed back at Elle with absolute adoration in their eyes, my heart sighed.

Feel me now, boys?

By the end of the song, I even saw two bikers using the corners of their throw blankets to dab under their eyes.

She’s going to pussify us all. Jesus H. Christ. I caught a glimpse of the nativity scene set up under the tree. Oh, sorry, baby Jesus.

PART THREE

“Sacrificing oneself is an act that can be considered heroic… or a death sentence, for many.”

~ Precious

Chapter twenty-six

Fearing the Worst

Precious

I can’t tell you what it was like to have a normal healthy home as I never had such a thing, but I can tell you what it is like to live with bighearted bikers. Okay, so they weren’t bighearted to everyone, like at all, but they stood by my road name. Especially after I won them over with…
