“I know you’re not one to wait around for someone else to take care of your problem.” Cross was speaking directly to Zeke. “But in this instance, it would be wise for you not to leave Tanner’s side. No one can protect him like you can.”

Zeke nodded, not completely convinced but understanding Cross's concern. "I'll give them twenty-four hours, and if the bears haven't found him, then I will find him."

"I'll go with you," Noa spoke up.

"And me," Parc said as well.

"Thanks." Zeke put his arm around Tanner and pulled him up flush to his side. "Don't worry, baby, he won't get anywhere near you."

“Is Salem in on it too?” Tanner sounded disheartened.

“We don’t know, it’s possible.”

“We weren’t friends, but I can’t imagine him standing by as Blake had me killed.”

"He probably has no clue what Blake does. Blake wouldn't share his business with a lowly boyfriend." Zeke said, hoping to ease his fears and disappointment.

"Why don't you two go up to the apartment and get some rest? I believe it’s going to be a full day for all of us, and you might as well get some sleep while you can." Cross spoke to Zeke, who was feeling Tanner's exhaustion, and agreed that rest was in order.

"Yes, that's a good idea." Zeke settled and helped Tanner to his feet. "Come, you're dead on your feet, baby."

"I'm fine; really, I'm not the one who fought off four wolf shifters." Tanner tried to object, but it was useless. He was nodding off as he was trying to speak. Zeke swung him up into his arms, and Tanner rested his head on Zeke's shoulder. "I am tired." He relented and closed his eyes.

"I know you are. Let's get some rest." Zeke headed to the back of the club and took the elevator to the second floor. The apartment was spacious and prepared for them. Zeke was eager to lay down with his mate in his arms and get some real rest for a few hours. They stripped down to their briefs, got into the large bed with the thick comforter, and held one another as sleep took them over.

Everyone went about their morning, waiting to hear from the bears and hoping that Zeke and Tanner wouldn't have to wait long for their situation to be resolved. Cross made arrangements for Tanner's apartment to be cleaned and put to right. The two dead wolf shifters were disposed of, and the door and wall repaired. He also started asking around about Blake Christopher.

Blake led a small but influential pack that he grew over the past five years. He dealt with the elite and monied members of the paranormal society and only accepted men like himself in his pack. He had a pretty good thing going with his real estate and banking interests, but somewhere, he began to see himself as more than just a leader or Alpha of his pack. He became strict and cruel in the way he governed, and his control became overbearing and, in some cases, deadly.

It was his practice to not have defenses within his pack for fear they would revolt against him. He depended upon hired protection from outside the pack. His hired soldiers had no loyalty to him or the pack and did only what they were paid to do. The breakdown of his pack began when his paranoia set in, and he began to see enemies within his own people.

Unfortunately, he dealt with those supposed enemies with his hired thugs, and word soon got around that he was killing his own people. The pack began to splinter until he used his hired muscle to control them, and no one was allowed to leave. Griff's death and his suspicion of Tanner was starting to make sense, considering Blake's paranoid way of thinking. The sooner the bears took care of the problem, the better.

Tanner woke in the arms of his mate. He wasn’t going to fight the reality that was this fine and loving man who wanted to be a part of his life. He would be stupid to ruin this or run away. Even if it were not eternal and lasted only a short while, it was better than anything he ever had before. There were no certainties or absolutes in this world, and Tanner decided he needed to enjoy life and hold onto the good for as long as possible. With that thought in mind, he snuggled tightly into Zeke’s embrace and laid his head against his shoulder.

"Are you awake?" He asked when he felt Zeke's arm wrapped around him.

“Yes, my love.” He responded so easily.

"You love me, Zeke?"

“I love you, Tanner.”

"I want to stay with you and see how this works out," Tanner announced. "I think we might have a real chance at a good life together." Tanner shared his feelings but still feared sharing too much.

"My life is more than good; it is wonderful now that you're in it." Zeke laid out without any qualms or apprehensions. Zeke knew what he wanted.

“Wonderful, you say.” Tanner teased.

"Wonderful, incredible, amazing there aren’t words enough to tell you how I feel when I have you close and you look at me with those gorgeous eyes." Zeke rolled Tanner onto his back, moved half over him, and began a kiss that possessed everything he was feeling.

Tanner was lost for a few minutes in the warmth and depth of Zeke's desire and felt the scar on his shoulder begin to throb, but in such a delicious way. The sensations coursing through him were making him hard and wanting. Zeke's body was calling to him.

He slipped his hand down and inside Zeke's briefs and took hold of his hard weeping cock, stroking it and aching to taste him. Zeke moaned and rolled his hips, intensifying the feelings. "I want you, Zeke; let me have you," Tanner begged. Zeke trailed a kiss down his throat to his shoulder and then released him, rolling onto his back and giving him access to everything he desired.

“I’m yours.” He said and closed his eyes.

Tanner quickly moved down Zeke's body, holding that prize and stroking it until he replaced his hand with his mouth. Zeke tasted clean, fresh, and sexy as all hell. The man was one in a million, and he belonged to Tanner. Every part of him belonged to Tanner. He was ready to accept and take from this bond everything that Zeke was offering him. He deep-throated Zeke's massive cock choking a little but not backing off. The feeling of being so filled was a thrill all on its own. He held the base with one hand in order to take him more easily and also stroke him more effectively.
