“I fed that damned cat a scrambled egg this morning. He was inmybed when I woke up this morning.” Murdoch liked that damned cat. The cat had gumption. No denying that. "Anything else?"

"Nothing much. I love small towns. Letter's onmydesk now. Bottom one. I left it so you could see howurgentit was."

"You are welcome to this place, man," Murdoch said, then smirked.

“So when are you giving me thegoodTahoe, then?”

“Tomorrow. I’ll even make it official. I need to clean it out first. Haven’t had time.” Murdoch left him there.

“Make time, damn it!” Neil yelled. “It’s my damned Tahoe now!”

Murdoch closed the door, just for the hell of it.

He grabbed the mail offhissoon-to-be former desk without looking at it. He always got a kick out of his sisters' kids and what they thought was important to mail him.

He ripped the end of the envelope then flipped it over to see which of his nieces or nephews was his favorite today. It had definitely been addressed in a childish hand. With purple colored pencil. Probably Marlie—that kid loved everything purple.

The return address—written in black ink and an adult hand—had him pausing.

Oakley Daviess.

With an address on Old Coleson Road.

What in the hell?

Oakley.

That wasn’t a name for one of Zoey’s siblings.

Daviess? One that hadn’t been found yet?

He supposed it was possible. No one knew how many kids Zoey's mother had had, after all. And one could be reasonably be around ten or so.

Or an unknown sibling could have had a kid who had somehow searched out Zoey’s contact information. Simon had found his sister Ariella that way, when he’d been all of eleven. And Pen had found Ariella when she’d been sixteen. The three oldest brothers were old enough to be both Pen and Simon’s father, as it was. Zoey had said there was possibly one just a bit younger than the annoying doctor twins. That dude could have kids.

He unfolded the note. Written in that same bright purple pencil as his address had been was a note that stopped him in his tracks.
