“Yeah except we do it for a year.” I nod.

Damn it to hell the spark in her eyes shows she thinks it might be a good idea.

“Do married people have flings with each other?”

I take her hand and bring it to my lips. “We can.”

“So definitely not friends anymore?”

“Not since my dick became obsessed with your pussy.”

Her cheeks color. “You are so crazy.”

“About you, wife. I’m crazy about you.”

She blinks and her eyes become glassy. “I’m a little crazy about you too, husband.”

“Then let’s do it, don’t say no to me, Mermaid.”

“Yes. I say yes, Jericho.”

Chapter27

River

Six months later

“Ihave officially decided to stick with this hair color,” Gina declares, raising her glass of wine and giving her new jet black locks a flick over her shoulder. “For one, I no longer look like a mangey badger.”

The table erupts with laughter. Even dad cracks a smile on his rigid face.

Around the table is Gina at the head, her two business partners, Eden, Dad, Jericho, and me. We’re at her house for a celebratory dinner because I just got a part with the New York City Ballet.

My audition was only a few days ago and I got the call yesterday to confirm the best news ever.

Of course my amazing Aunt Gina had to put together an impromptu dinner. It’s worth noting that it would only be an occasion like this that she could manage to get us all together at a table.

God knows what’s going to happen for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Dad is usually with me, or I’m with him. Even when I was in Russia one of us would make the journey. This year I can’t imagine him sitting at the table with Jericho, but that can be tomorrow’s problem or in the next few months.

Tonight I’m happy and my mind is still buzzing with the news of my success. I can hardly contain myself. I officially start working for the New York City Ballet in two months’ time. Until then I still have nightly shows with the dance company and classes at the school, which I’ve been given the go ahead to continue teaching until the spring term.

My life has changed in so many amazing ways, but so has Gina’s

Now that her treatment and heath are stable, Gina looks so different. At least a good ten or so years younger with her new hairstyle which is longer and more beautiful.

“I think you look amazing,” I say with a sure nod.

“Thank you my darling niece, and well done again.”

Everyone nods and I smile with pride.

“Thanks so much.”

“Now let’s eat this gorgeous food.” She waves her hand over the glorious spread before us as if she’s holding a magic wand.

We all tuck in and Gina kicks off the conversation by talking about the new project she and her business partners are working on. Jericho chimes in because he’s working on a new project too and Eden and I awe-filled exchange glances when he takes my hand and holds it on the table for everyone to see.

It’s been exactly six months. Yesterday was the six month mark of our marriage, so technically we’ve been back in each other’s lives for almost eight months.
