Dressed in a gray jumpsuit with his shaggy black an unruly mess, Sasha looks like the sort of hardened criminal you’d expect to see here.

He’s got Russian tattoos on his hands and crawling up his arms. The scars look like knife scars or the sort you get from something sharp like glass.

Knight hangs back with the guard while I make my way to the chair in front of Sasha.

It’s going to be weird talking to him through the glass but I’ll make do. It’s better than nothing.

“Sasha Konstantin, I got your message.” I rest my hands on the counter between us.

“I didn’t send you anything, Jericho Grayson,” he answers in a deep Russian accent. “I don’t know you, rich boy.”

I chuckle off key. “You send my wife a message on a number you’re not supposed to have, that message is for me too.”

It’s his turn to laugh but the sound just infuriates me further.

“I give you credit for coming here, Jericho Grayson, but you are way in over your head.”

“Oh I don’t think so. It’s you who’s in over your head. I came here to tell you not to message my wife ever again. Don’t fucking do it.”

“You got some balls, but do you really think I’m gonna listen to you? Do I look like one of your servants or brown nosers.”

“No, you look like a pathetic idiot who’s won’t leave his ex-alone when it’s clear she doesn’t want you, so stay the hell away. Message her again or go near her…” I make it clear that I’m aware he must be on his way out soon. “Do it and I will fuck you up and destroy you.”

He smiles back at me and I don’t know what’s worse the smile or no answer.

Sasha just looks at me for a few moments with that psychotic smile on his face and I wait for what seems like forever for some other response.

“What the hell are you smiling at?” I’m losing my cool. That’s probably what he wanted.

“You. See you on the other side Grayson. Enjoy my woman while you can. When I get out of here, I’m taking her back from you. River St. James is not the kind of woman you allow to leave you.”

His words… they fill my find and stay there still and unmoving as if someone froze them in time.

This asshole as bad as he is knows one of the biggest truths I’ve had to learn the hard way. That River is not the kind of woman you let go of, yet here I am with a count down of six months on our relationship.

How do I let her go when the time comes?

How do I let her go and allow her and leave her in the world to men like this animal who hurt her.

I’m not going to let that happen.

“Stay away from her, you hear.”

Again he smiles and stares at me with no answer. Frustration gets the better of me and I punch the glass. Of course it’s the kind that doesn’t break.

If it were my hands would be around his neck.

“Come on Jericho we gotto go,” Knight says coming up to me.

“Stay away from her.” I shout at Sasha.

Knight grabs my arm and ushers me away from the glass. I didn’t realize it but another guard had joined us.For me.

Sometimes I forget the temper I have on me. I wouldn’t care if I unleashed but doing so now wouldn’t help anyone. That’s the only reason why I go with Knight, but as I leave I all I can see is Sasha staring back at me with that I’ve-already-won smile plastered across his face.

I sit by the floor to ceiling glass windows of the hotel room Knight and I stayed in.
