Soon the performance is over and I can’t wait to rush into my man’s arms.

The audience gives us a standing ovation but I swear Jericho cheers the loudest for me.

When the curtains close, I wrap everything up as quickly as possible. The longest task I have is signing my autograph for the fans that have gathered backstage.

Once that’s done, I practically race to the dressing room. Jericho will probably be waiting with Gina and Eden for me. They’ve done that in previous performances.

We’d go for a bite to eat after or a drink but tonight I just want to be with Jericho.

I lock the door and grab my bags to change my clothes but a shuffle of footsteps in the corner of the room stops me.

This is my dressing room. No one else is supposed to be in here. Not even the cleaning staff. They usually come in once everyone has gone home.

“Hello,” I call out when I hear the sound again. “Who’s there?”

“Me, Baby doll,” a cold chilling voice answers back in a deep Russian accent.

Sasha steps out of the shadows and raw fear bleeds into my heart.

It pierces straight through as if attached to the tips of a thousand arrows and spreads over my body like darkness swallowing light.

The feeling is fitting. Sasha is dressed in black and the darkness of his heart is suffocating me.

He’s here. God he’s actually here.

“Not going to say anything to me it’s been awhile?” He smiles and the scar on his cheek becomes more pronounced.

My knees turn to water and my brain is hardly any better. I think of what to say and only one thing comes to mind.

“You need to leave me alone.”

His jaw clenches and his gaze hardens. “Why? Because you’re married? thanks to your father, I know all about your sham marriage.”

“It’s not a sham.”

“Oh that’s right Jericho Grayson was the boy who got away. So maybe you want me to leave you alone because you put me behind bars.”

The air gets stuck in my throat and I can’t breathe past the constriction holding me captive.

“What do you want?”

“You know what I want. Only one thing would get me on a plane here.” He steps forward and I step backward, glancing out the corner of my eye for the door.

It’s too far away from me, but if I could get to it I could run out to the foyer and scream for help.

“What was that?” I decide to keep him talking, but the malicious look in his eyes tells me he’s already figured me out.

“You. You know I want you. And just for the record, you’d have to run at one hell of a speed to get away from me. But it will be fun to watch you try.”

He winks at me and launches forward to grab me, but I whirl around and sprint toward the door.

My heart is already tumbling in my throat and my body fighting harder than it has strength to move me forward so I can escape.

But just before I get to the door he grabs me and covers my mouth over with one large hand.

My screams die on the tip of my tongue.

I never stood a chance.
