I saw Jayden take a thoughtful look before he answered me.

“That is a good point. Perhaps I should get one of the partners in here. I think I know the perfect one to head up your case. Then we can discuss exactly how we are going to prove your wife’s infidelity. I’ll just call in Richard, who will be able to help.”

I watched as Jayden picked up his phone and called Richard, who I guessed would be my main port of call throughout this.

“Hi, Richard. Could you come down to my office, please? I have a client here and think you would be the perfect partner to head up the investigation… Okay, thank you. I will see you in a minute.”

We sat there chatting away when I heard footsteps come to the door and a knock.

“Come in, Richard.”

I turned to greet the man who had walked into the room and couldn’t believe my eyes. It was Romeo.

I felt all the same emotions I had last night when I kissed him. My heart was beating hard in my chest, and I was sure that Jayden would notice how I was reacting.

“Richard, can I introduce you to Daniel Cooper?”

I watched as Richard turned and saw recognition come over his face, and then guilt. I assumed that to be from telling me his name was Romeo, but I couldn’t have cared less about that.

“Daniel?”

I saw confusion come over Jayden’s face as he spoke.

“Wait, you two know each other?”

Chapter Six

Richard

Ihadn’t been able to get Daniel out of my mind since last night. I’d woken up several times with a raging hard-on every time I thought about him. I’d even had to have a cold shower this morning to try and calm myself down.

He’d made me feel so confident last night. The thought that I had caused a man to wank as I was talking to him made me feel good. I had turned him on so much that he needed to feel the same sexual high as I was.

I was certain now that Daniel was my one. The one the rest of the guys had all spoken about. The person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. In their case, it was the woman of their dreams, but in mine, it was Daniel.

I managed to get some sleep but found myself awake again at six o’clock. Hoping that either Tyler or Maddie would be awake for the morning feed of their son, Nicholas Richard—yes, they had even given their son my name—I sent a text asking them if they were free to talk. Within moments, Tyler was calling me.

“Hey, Richard. I, is everything okay? You don’t usually message this early in the morning.”

I loved that when any of us messaged each other, we automatically thought there was a problem. It just showed how close we had become over the past few years, and I wasn’t just meaning me and Tyler. I would say the same thing to any of the guys if they messaged me.

“Hey, Tyler. Nothing is wrong, really. I didn’t wake you up, did I? I was just hoping you could give me some advice.”

“No, Maddie and I were both up. We’ve just arrived at the coffee shop. Do I need to put this call on speakerphone so we can both listen?”

“Probably a good idea.”

I said my hellos to Maddie and then went through what had happened last night between me and Daniel. I left out all the juicy details of what had happened through the night but made enough hints for them to work it out themselves. The pair of them didn’t say a word throughout my explanation, and I was starting to worry that they were going to tell me that I was about to make the biggest mistake of my life if I tried for a relationship with Daniel. It was Maddie who spoke first.

“Oh my God, Richard. This is amazing news. I’m so happy for you. I can’t wait to meet him. I bet he is dreamy.”

“Hello? Husband sitting right next to you.”

I didn’t have to hear the slap to know it was coming. How Tyler was still alive amazed me at times. He never understood when he should keep his thoughts and comments to himself. I guess that was why Maddie and I got on so well. I was always a good buffer between the pair of them—and Kelsey, come to think of it. I guessed being gay had its advantages at times. I seemed to be able to placate the women when they were about to murder their men.

“Are you sure I’m not going to make a fool of myself? Go headfirst into this relationship only to find out he was playing me all along?”

Tyler spoke next, and I was surprised at what he said.
