A roared “Huzzah!” boomed back at him this time.

Rollo looked over to catch Winona laughing as Bloom grabbed at her arm to steady herself. His boys ran here and there.

The human women, Chris and Kim, came by to say how cute the kids were. And he even spotted the witches milling about. Mack and Wendy were dutifully patrolling the floor, making sure everyone had a drink. And was that Clint chatting up Tam?

There was definitely something going on there, he decided.

He headed over to join his mate once more and see how the boys were doing.

Winona wason top of the world. She never could have imagined things could feel so right. There was just one last thing to do as they geared up to head out. She smiled and rested her hands on her belly. She wasn’t showing yet, but the trip to the doctor had confirmed it. She was still trying to get her head around this “accelerated pregnancy” thing. But she wasn’t complaining. Far from it.

“Hey, babe. I have something I need to tell you.”

Rollo looked at her. “You want to be the nanny again? Isn’t it a little late for that?”

Winona punched him on the arm. “Rollo. Cut it out. I think we can put the nanny jokes to rest.” She laughed. “But, um, I know you like surprises… so, I have another one for you. Here, let’s sit down.”

Rollo looked at her sharply. “You want me to sit down?”

“Yes, please.” She waited while he moved quickly to a chair, his eyes focused solely on her.

“What’s going on, Winona? Is it the baby?”

“Well, yes and no, you could say.”

Rollo just looked at her confusedly.

“The doctor just had some exciting news for us . We’re going to need some more stuff for the house, I think.”

“What? Winona, what are you saying?”

Winona smiled at him, and put her hands on his shoulders.

“It’s notthebaby. It’sbabies. They’re twins. Rollo. Girls. Two little girls!”

“Oh boy,” he said, visibly slumping back in his chair. It was a little dark already but she was pretty sure he went at least one shade paler too.

“Payback,” whispered Winona, “And I think the proper expression should be “Oh girl,” she said as she called to Wendy as she walked by. “Could we get a glass of water, please?”

She had decided to tell him first, to let it sink in, before telling the elves. Maybe tomorrow?

It was all going to be an adventure, but there was no one she would rather be going on it with.

Just then, Dax and Bloom came by and pulled up chairs.

“I am so glad you guys could make it,” Bloom gushed. But then seeing both Winona and Rollo’s huge smiles, she asked, “What, is there some good news?”

“There sure is,” Rollo said.

Winona thought she would burst with joy. To be surrounded with so much love was almost overwhelming. And it was only going to get better.
