I genuinely laugh now. Of course Pianna would find a way to make me smile even hundreds of miles away.

Me: I miss you.

Pianna: I miss you more <3

With a sigh, I toss the phone onto the cushion beside me and consider how to get rid of the craziness in my life.

Twelve

“Hey, I know it’s super early on a Monday morning to be asking, but I need a favor.”

I shake my head, “No, I won’t watch your kids. They sound like heathens. Ask a student looking for money.”

Jonathan snorts. “I would never put you through that type of hell. You’re mine and Brenda’s best, and probably only true, friend. We don’t want to scare you off.”

Without looking away from the screen, I roll my eyes and snort. “What do you want?”

“I need you to get your real estate license back.”

I blink in surprise. “Um, why?”

“Because Brenda and I want to buy a house and we hated our last agent.”

“Then use someone else.”

Jonathan sighs loudly, “That’s where you would come in.”

“Get an alreadylicensedagent.”

“With how much I catch you looking at properties on your phone, I have a feeling you’d do way better than anyone else.” Jonathan rolls his seat over to me and plucks my phone up from off the desk.

“Hey!”

“See! Look,” he turns the screen toward me as if I don’t already know what’s on it. “House hunting!”

I snatch my phone back and glare at him. “I’m not getting re-licensed just for you. But I am interested in hearing why you would look for a house now. Didn’t you guys just move into a new place just before I was hired?”

“Yeah, but it’s too small,” Jonathan sighs and rolls back to his side of the desk. “Sucks you wouldn’t do this for me.”

I can’t help it, I laugh. “You’ll get over it.”

“Want to go to some open houses with us this Sunday? We’d love your input.”

Going with them sounds like a fun time. I start to smile and open my mouth to agree but then I remember Grant, Jason, and Trip. What if I’m not around like last time when they demanded my attention? Inwardly, I groan.

Outwardly, I just make a face and say, “I can’t. I’m busy.”

“Doing what?” he demands. “Twiddling your thumbs? You can do that afterward.”

Well, there’s a real possibility that I could be strapped down to a bed and forced to orgasm until I go into shock… again. That takes up quite a lot of time. Or I could be dressed up like a doll and forced to give someone head while another finger fucks me or cums all over me. This could be a very busy weekend for me. Not wanting to risk their wrath so soon after last time, I give Jonathan an apologetic smile.

“Twiddling thumbs is an all-weekend activity for me, sorry.”

Jonathan rolls his eyes. “Fine. You’ll just come with us another time.”

The next morning,as I lay in my bed waiting for my alarm to go off, I’m looking into the licensing requirements to become a real estate agent in Texas. I may have scoffed at Jonathan yesterday, but Idomiss it. Working with clients to find them the perfect house, it was a challenge and a thrill. In the beginning, most of my clients were first-time home buyers with meager budgets, but after a ton of hard work, I’d started working with people with real money. Not millionaires. There weren’t any ofthosepeople in Cohawk, New Mexico, but there were definitely a few clients looking to start investments and they brought money to the table for sure. Those types of properties were some of my favorites to find.
