With a sigh and a groan, I rolled off Charlie, so we were now lying on our sides, face to face.

I picked up my phone and tapped accept. “What’s so urgent that you’re calling me at seven in the morning?”

“Ah feck, sorry. I keep forgetting that you’re in the warm and sunny Caribbean and I’m back here at home, freezing my damn balls off.”

“Wow, you’re in the Christmas spirit. Not.”

“Speaking of the holidays and good times, are you having fun down south?”

“It’s been good. A different kind of Christmas experience, but I like it.”

“What’s that thing on your face?” he asked me.

Oh Jesus, please tell me it’s not cum.

“Is that a smile? That’s a Christmas miracle right there,” Korry teased.

I gave him a choice finger in return.

“Was that Charlie?” Korry announced loudly. “Nice to finally meet ya! Kiernan talks about you all the time.”

I shook my head. “Oh God.”

Charlie leaned over and waved at the screen. “Nice to meet you too, Korry. Wow, you really are twins. Except, you’ve got short hair. And a piercing in your eyebrow. And your nose is different.”

“My nose hasn’t been broken,” Korry quipped with a wink. “I’m better looking, right?”

“Nope.”

Charlie grinned at me, and I kissed his temple.

“Back to my original question, why are you calling so early? Everything okay?” I asked.

“I just got off the phone with Ma. She’s got another treatment scheduled after the holidays, but she wants to cancel. She keeps going on about the cost.”

“Do not let her cancel, Kor. It’s working. You took care of the last bill and I have the next one covered.”

“You know Ma, she’s so proud and she feels badly. Maybe give her a ring?”

“As soon as we hang up, I’m on it.”

“Thanks, Kier. And sorry for interrupting your morning.”

His grin told me he was anything but.

“No worries.”

“It was nice to finally meet you, Charlie. I hope we meet again soon.”

“You as well! And hey, I’ve got some time off in the spring so who knows? How’s Dublin in April?”

Was Charlie saying what I hoped he was saying?

“Cloudy and rainy,” Korry replied. “But the company and the whiskey can’t be beat.”

“Sold.”

“I’ll text you later, Kor. Love you.”
