The blue alien opened the closest door and pushed me into an empty bunkroom. Then he picked up the unconscious lizard and carried it in, the door sliding shut behind him.
“Tark.” He tapped his chest, his really wide and bulging-with-muscles chest.
What the hell do they put in the water ’round here to grow them like this?
“I’m Ella.” I hooked a thumb toward myself.
“Ell-Laa,” he repeated, rolling my name across his tongue like he was trying to French kiss it.
I didn’t know how he shoved all those extra Ls into my name, but it made it sound pretty, and no one ever found anything pretty about me before.
He rummaged around in the external pockets of his gray spacesuit and pointed a silver tube at my head.
I flinched.Hell, just my luck. I get found by a hunky alien, and he shoots me.
Only, nothing came outta the tube, and he grinned, flashing those fangs. “I’ve updated your translator chip. Can you understand me?”
Shock zipped through me, and my hand flew up to the small scar at the base of my skull. The lizards had done something to me that first day, a coupla weeks ago, but I’d been too out of it with cryo-sickness to much care.
His expression dimmed. “Youcanunderstand me now, yes?”
“Yes.”
The blue alien’s smile turned bright as the sun, stunning me with its force. His handsome face became downright beautiful. “Great! Because we’re married!”
