For the next few days, I slept and ate. Slowly, I was regaining my strength and healing rapidly, thanks to the energies emitting from my alphas. I always had two alphas on either side of me at all times. I admit, it was great to actually get to know them on a personal level.
Killian was the most fun to hang out with. He regaled me with crazy adventure stories and made me laugh till my sides ached. Duncan made me feel safe and loved, and we had deep conversations on many topics. Lucien was a little hard to get to know at first, and he mostly steered the conversations towards me and what I liked.
But the worst alpha to hang out with was Kayden. I found out he had suffered the most damage on the hunt to save me, and I wondered if he was holding a grudge or something. Our sessions were spent in stony silence or sleep.
There was no conversation forthcoming from him.
And honestly, I didn't even care at this point. I had too much pride to beg him to keep me. If he didn't want to have me in his pack, then I would be more than happy to walk away with my freedom. But the thought of leaving tore my heart to pieces.
I had already seen the bleak world outside, and I had no more interest in going out there.
My family was here now, and I knew deep in my heart that I would be happy here. But Kayden never brought up the subject again, and I refused to talk about it as well. I guess when the day came when I was fully healed, we would see what would happen.
Killian
I threw down the matching Uno card I had in my hand and waited for Adrianna's turn. She had taken a liking to this card game, and we played it almost nonstop during our sessions now.
But it killed me to see Adrianna sad like this. She tried to hide it during our session by laughing at my lame jokes, but I could see the pain in her eyes. She clearly said she didn't want to leave our pack anymore, but asshole Kayden wouldn't budge on the issue.
He claims he wants to give her a proper choice for her future after the ordeal that had happened to her. Truth be told, I think he's blaming himself for what happened. For taking away her choice and "forcing" her to take such drastic action that almost cost her life.
Regardless, all I knew was that I wanted to keep this fiery redhead as our omega. But Kayden wouldn't give in and I could see Adrianna would never ask him. So we all tiptoed around that topic, never actually discussing it.
"Uno, again!" Adrianna exclaimed, throwing her hands up with glee.
She was healing faster by the day and was almost fully better. She still stayed in bed, however, as that was the easiest way to surround her. Duncan was on shift with me, his nose buried in a book on Adrianna's right side.
"Ah, you win again, darling," I drawled out.
I leaned forward and captured her plump pink lips in a deep kiss. She pulled away, flustered, her cheeks turning red.
"We can't do that sort of stuff. I'm still healing," she stated, unsure of her own words.
Duncan raised a brow but continued flipping through his book silently. Good man.
"You know, being closer to you like this will help you heal even faster, darling," I said, running a finger over her visible cleavage.
She shivered and stared at me with widened eyes. "But we're not even a pack anymore," she protested weakly.
"That's not fair now, is it?" I said seductively. "You allowed the others to knot you, but not me, remember?"
Her cheeks flushed even further, and she turned away. "My heat was over pretty quick," she admitted, acknowledging my claim.
I groaned and kissed her mouth again, lingering with my tongue. I broke the kiss and backed off, a twinkle in my eye. She wasn't healed enough yet for what I wanted to do with her. But she damn well will be in horny anticipation for it.
"Big mistake, darling. Now I'm gonna have to show you what you missed out on." I teased her.
She laughed at my threat, but I could smell her slick from here. I was turning her on.
I forced myself to get up and leave the room, to get myself back under control. But soon, regardless of what Kayden says, that sexy omega would have my knot buried deep inside her right where it belonged.
Chapter 13
Kayden
Adriannawasinsistingontaking a bath today. It was my session time with her and she absolutely refused to wait a second longer "without soaking in bubbles".
"Look, Kayden, I'll either do this with your help or without it. But just so you know, if I hurt myself, it's on you," she said bossily, her nose high in the air.
