His head snapped up, and his gaze met mine.

"Adrianna! You're awake! Oh my god!"

He raced over to me and gingerly sat next to me, showering my face with kisses. I giggled and tried to bat him away and realized my hands and arms were covered in thick, tightly wrapped bandages.

Then I remembered what happened and sobered up.

"How did you find me?" I whispered to him. Tears blurred my vision as I remembered the horror I had endured.

"Lucien tracked you, darling. It was a hell of a hunt, but we found you in the end," he said grimly, stroking my hair.

Lucien walked in right at that moment. His eyes widened, seeing that I was awake, and he broke into a smile, the first I had ever seen on him. I let the tears flow freely down my cheeks, and the gratitude shine through my eyes.

"Thank you, Lucien, for finding me. I would have been dead if it weren't for you," I choked out, overcome with emotion.

"Ah, little omega, I'll always be there to find you," he said, his face turning red.

He sat on the other side of me and placed my hand carefully on his lap. I felt rumbling vibrations emanating from them both, and peace washed over me. I closed my eyes and hummed in response.

"What are you guys doing?" I gasped out. My throat felt considerably less swollen.

"Our alpha energy can help you heal a little faster," explained Lucien. "If we were bonded, you probably would have been healed already," he admonished lightly.

I bit my lip and looked away. I still remembered why I had run away in the first place. But all that seemed trivial in the face of what had just happened. This pack was there for me when no one else was, and I would never forget that.

Duncan walked into the room, and waves of guilt rolled over me about how I tricked him and took advantage of his kind, trusting nature. He came to a stop at the door of the bed and looked me over.

"I'm glad you're looking a lot better now, love," he said gently.

"I'm sorry, Duncan," I blurted out. "I.."

He shushed me before I could continue, sitting right at my feet.

"The past is the past, love. I just want you to focus on healing now."

I nodded, my heart swelling with love for this gracious and sweet alpha. I closed my eyes, intending to rest for a while, but the door opened once more, letting in the final alpha of my pack.

I opened my eyes and gulped nervously. Kayden stood there in all his glory. But unlike the others, he wore a mask of indifference and kept his arms clasped behind his back.

"Kayden," I squeaked out tentatively, breaking the silence.

"After you're all healed up, we'll return you to the official omega nest, where you can await a pack of your own choosing," he stated formally.

I gasped in hurt pain, and it wasn't from my wounds.

"Perhaps you will be lucky and find another pack to go into heat with. Good luck with your future," he finished up his speech, turned on his heel, and left the room.

"You guys are giving me up?" I cried out, scanning the rest of their saddened faces.

"Isn't that what you had wanted?" Killian replied bleakly.

"You didn't want us, remember?" Lucien added.

"Well, I changed my mind. I just needed some time to think," I said, wearing my heart on my sleeve. "Obviously, I don't want any babies right now…" my voice trailed off as I yawned.

Duncan jumped in, interfering. "Look, guys, this conversation can wait for another time. Right now, you need rest. As much as you can get, love."

His words warmed my heart, and I nodded obediently, resting my head back and closing my eyes, surrounded by my rumbling alphas. Only for the time being, I thought sadly.
