“Those, too.” He gestured at my jeans.

I stepped out of them and left them on the floor.

“Touch me.”

He stepped back into my space but didn’t put his hands on me. He always exhibited so much more control than I did.

“Dominic.” His tone betrayed his hunger.

“I know you want me too.”

“Always. Not a day goes by that I don’t want you.”

“You’re just better at waiting than I am?” My words were bitter, and they always would be.

“Yes.”

“Why?” I asked.

“Because my age has given me the wisdom to know stopping is harder than starting.” He cupped my face and kissed me. This time, it wasn’t aggressive; it was filled with all the things I couldn’t think about, or I might not go home tonight.

“Don’t kiss me like that.” It hurt. It was all the softness and love I’d never have.

I couldn’t spend tonight dwelling on it again.

“Why?” he asked.

“We aren’t friends. Just fuck me.” I’d scratch the itch and leave. It was how it had to be.

“If we aren’t friends, then what are we?”

“I don’t care. Enemies. Acquaintances. Nothing.”

“We will never be nothing. I won’t let you ever feel nothing.” Vin loved this.

“Why do you keep fucking torturing me?” I asked, knowing the answer.

“Because you won’t let me keep you.”

“I hate you.”

“When will you not hate me?” he asked.

“When you erase the memories of you in my mind.”

Dominic

“There is no way to ease these things, not until you give in to what you are.” He tightened his grip on the back of my neck, unforgiving, more pain than pleasure. He’d leave marks.

Just the way I liked it.

I’d get off to those marks when I left. And I’d miss him long before they faded.

“What am I?” I asked between clenched teeth, fighting it.

Our push and pull never ended.

“An animal.” He dug his nails into my flesh.
