Just like that, she could inevitably help take down a growing and very violent mafia unit that was spreading into all parts of the world.

“The blast in—” She tried her luck, hoping he would just casually give her another name.

“You had one question, Kitten. Now you’re going on a date with me.” His eyes darkened. Her breath faltered. Being close to him for any reason destroyed her. But she was doing this because it was her job and for her country.

It wasn’t long before they headed toward the main chalet, making their getaway from the cabin during a tiny lull in the storm. Still, Peyton was frozen when they arrived on the other side.

She couldn’t even push Declan away when he wrapped his arms around her, drawing her body to his heat.

Embarrassed that she tried to climb into his clothes, she awkwardly stepped out of his embrace, but he didn’t let her go completely.

He tucked his arm around her waist and kept her at his side, his grasp gentle but firm at the same time, which meant she wasn’t going anywhere.

They entered the lounge, and it seemed like a lifetime ago that Peyton had stepped into that same room for the first time.

Was she even the same girl she was when they arrived?

Panic started to swirl all around her. Cozily seated around the huge fireplace, the other guests basked in the warmth of the room, enhanced by the glow of the butt-plug chandelier amidst the darkness of the storm outside.

She would have to introduce herself and Declan to these people.

What was she going to say? “I’m Peyton, and this is Declan, my prisoner. He kills people for a living, and he makes millions upon millions of dollars for his efforts.”

He did only take on jobs he felt were necessary and only if his client could pay the sum of his colossal bill. Was she glamorizing his profession? No. He was a killer. That was all.

She just had to play it cool. She also couldn’t let him out of her sight. Unconsciously, she grasped the fine knitwear of the black sweater he wore.

She heard him growl softly next to her as he lowered his gaze to her hand on his chest.

No one here knew who Declan was. They were all just innocent people enjoying the holidays, albeit maybe an extended stay due to the weather. Unless one of them was on Declan’s hit list, they were all safe.

Oh god. Was one of the guests on his hit list? Did he know they would have to take refuge at the Red Hills Resort for the sole purpose of him unaliving someone here?

“Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’m not going to kill anyone here,” he whispered into her ear. How was it possible he could read her thoughts?

Although that was the least of her worries.

“Unless someone irritates you.”

“You can’t go around killing people if they irritate me, Declan. What is wrong with you?” she whispered back urgently.

“I’ll burn down the world for you, Peyton.” He caught her gaze, and she forgot to blink.

Her body had warmed itself against him, but it wasn’t enough. Her nipples had started to ache, and her pussy cried out to relive that one time Declan had made her come.

It was his nearness that messed with her head, but she couldn’t let him out of her sight or her immediate space.

But her attention was soon shifted. They had already made their entrance into the lounge, and she couldn’t stand by mutely. Her heart started to pound at how she was possibly going to oversee their interactions with these innocent people.

She needn’t have worried.

With his smooth, killer moves, easy charm, and devastatingly good looks, Declan took charge of the situation.

He introduced them to the guests present as, Declan and Peyton Adams.

Then, for her ears only.
