Page 12 of Runaway Omega

A man laughs. “Tell your friend to keep it down. We have guests over here.”

Rune snorts. “There’s no keeping that one down when he’s deep in pussy. If I see Lawrence’s omega, I’ll let you know.”

I hold my breath.

With Kylian’s praise swirling around in my brain, I wait to see if this insane plan will save me from Lawrence’s gilded cage.

Footsteps move away, and I release a quiet breath.

Kylian’s eyes snap open, his casual pose melts away, and he’s up on his feet, holding a hand out to me. “Time to go, beautiful.”

My fear kicks in.

He’s still an alpha, and I have no intention of willingly climbing into another gilded cage.

I glance at the hedge behind us as I push myself to my feet, ignoring his offer to help me up. “I can—”

Rune is shaking his head as he and Cian approach, speaking low. “You wouldn’t get out of this gated community. If Lawrence doesn’t find you in his garden, the next place he’ll look is the surrounding properties.”

Shit. He’s right.

“So what’s the plan?” I lick my lips as I subtly back up a half-step, aware I have three big alphas standing far too close.

From Rune’s slow blink, he didn’t miss my retreat. He nods at the hedge. “You and Kylian go over it. Cian and I will get the car and pick you up farther down the road. There’s no getting you through the house without someone recognizing you or your dress.”

Again, he’s right when I really wish he were wrong.

It’s not easy to accept it, but I nod. “What do I do?”

Rune crosses over to the hedge, eyes it for a beat, and then cups his hands together. “Kylian.”

Kylian glances at me. “Watch how I do it, Everleigh. I’ll be waiting to catch you, okay?”

Catch me?

I’m still processing this new plan, which somehow seems even more insane than the first, as Kylian backs up. He sprints toward Rune, flinging both arms up, and uses Rune’s hands as a springboard. Or maybe it’s less about him using Rune as a springboard and more about Rune catapulting him up the hedge.

Kylian easily catches himself at the top of the twenty-foot hedge and sits astride it.

My mouth gapes open.

I’m supposed to dothat? No freaking way.

At least Kylian is in a suit. I’m in a floor-length dress. They all look at me, waiting for me to repeat that same circus trick. If I didn’t know what was waiting for me back in the mansion I just ran from, I would refuse. Anyone who wasn’t looking to crack their head open doing such a dangerous thing would turn around and say no, thanks.

Not me.

I’m desperate.

So beyond desperate, I’m willing to trust three alphas to get me away from Lawrence.

They’re clearly taking my escape seriously. It’s time I did the same. I can’t do anything about the fact I’m wearing a dress, but I can make things less likely to end with a broken neck.

I take a second to examine my floor-length silk dress. Like all the ones Lawrence filled my wardrobe with, it’s designer. It’s a pale pink color I hate, and it costs thousands of dollars.

I don’t hesitate before I bend over, grip the slit, and tear upward, stopping just above my knees. Then I rip off everything below my knees, hopefully saving me from tripping over the material as I run.

“Give it here.” Cian eyes my bare legs with an intensity that makes my chest tight. “We’ll get rid of it on our way.”
