“Something wrong?” he calls out, eyeing me curiously.

“You said Nancy had been in my room cleaning,” I say.

“Yup.” He continues toward the stairs, which separate his room from mine. “She didn’t move anything important, did she?”

I narrow my eyes as I search his face, trying to read him. “No. So you didn’t…”

He’s already shaking his head. “That’s omega territory. Why? Is something wrong?”

Kylian must know what Nancy did. Or he was responsible for it. A nest doesn’t build itself.

But he waits, body relaxed and no hint of deception on his face, for me to answer him.

I turn away. “Nothing is wrong.”

I feel his eyes trail me back into my room. Closing the door behind me, I cross back to the closet door.

The only sign I didn’t imagine all this craziness is the cream cushion that tumbled out of the closet and onto my foot, which is still on the carpet.

Pulling the door open again, I take in the closet. For a walk-in closet, it’s a good size. Maybe not ideal for sleeping in, but that’s not its intended purpose.

Nancy—and I have a feeling these three alphas played a big part in this—must have stuffed it full of every cushion, throw, and blanket in the house. I know because the insane pile reaches my hips.

The bundle of clothes Rune got for me is still there. Nancy was careful to make the ground as comfortable as possible but leave everything else much the same way. It even still smells of Rune, Kylian, and Cian. Three scents I can’t get enough of.

It’s a jumble of colors and textures. Fur, cotton, mohair, and sheepskin.

It’s insane. Utterly insane. Maybe that’s why I bite off a laugh because who the hell would do something like this? Certainly not Lawrence. He gave me expensive and beautiful. But meaningless.

This means something to me.

I glance at my bedroom door, wanting to make sure I closed it so no one sees what I intend to do.

And then I give into the urge that’s been creeping over me since I saw this insane excuse for a nest. I dive into it, head first, laughing when I hit the soft fabric and sink in.

Chapter23

Kylian

Istand outside Everleigh’s door, hear a soft thump and her muffled laugh.

A smile pulls on my lips as I nod, pleased, heading to the gym to let Rune and Cian know we just did something very right.

We made our omega happy.

If there’s a sweeter sound than Everleigh laughing, I’ve never heard it.

Chapter24

Everleigh

“You’re smiling,” Cian comments as we dance across the ballroom.

It’s been nearly an entire day since I discovered the strangest nest in the world, and I don’t think I’ve stopped smiling once.

Before I perfumed, I’d heard about how omegas were spoiled with beautiful, silk-filled spaces they could burrow into and find the comfort they craved. I never found comfort in any part of Lawrence’s house. Not even in the nest he built for me.

A closet filled with mismatched cushions, throws, and blankets is probably not what an omega dreams her nest will look like. I don’t have a single complaint about my nest.
