"Yeah, that's a good idea. But it's such a damn shame. I wanted Doug to see me in it. I mean Dagor."

"I did." He walked over and crouched next to the wheelchair. "You look spectacular, but then you looked just as good this morning."

A bright smile illuminated her unnaturally pale face. "You weren't kidding when you said you were a god."

"I'm afraid not." He smiled apologetically. "Once you get to know me better, you'll realize I don't have much of a sense of humor."

"That's okay. I have enough for the both of us."

Frankie's eyelids fluttered closed, but given that her lips were still curved in a small smile, he assumed she hadn't fainted again.

As Toven's mate moved her chair, giving Dagor more room next to the couch, he scooted closer to Frankie and took her hand. "Have you eaten anything other than the bar snacks today?"

She shook her head. "I was too nervous."

"That's understandable. You were about to dine with gods and immortals. I don't know why Toven invited you into their world. Still, it must be overwhelming for you to suddenly discover that humans are not the only intelligent species on this planet." He cast an accusing look at Toven. "Why did you invite her to the cruise without preparing her?"

"We planned to do it as soon as the ship sailed, but we got delayed, and we had to rush it."

"I didn't know," Frankie murmured. "I mean, I didn't know about any of it when I talked to you earlier. Mia and Toven came to my cabin just before dinner and told me the highlights so I wouldn't freak out when I saw a glowing goddess, but I freaked out anyway. I fainted when they told me and then again when I saw you."

So, Mia was right, and he had been the reason Frankie had fainted.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

Frankie

"You didn't scare me." Frankie lifted her hand and cupped Dagor's cheek.

He was warm to the touch, and other than the perfect symmetry of his face, the bright blue shade of his eyes, and the absolute smoothness of his skin, he didn't look alien.

He could have been a human with excellent genetics or some corrective plastic surgery, colored contact lenses, and an excellent skin routine.

But what moved her most of all was the concern in his eyes.

They had spent no more than an hour chatting at the Lido bar, and the attraction was there in force, but there was a difference between wanting to bed a woman and caring about her, and for some reason, Dagor seemed to care.

"You fainted." He leaned into her hand for a moment.

"It was just too much to process, and this dress is too tight."

"Do you need me to help you get to the bedroom so you can change?"

She chuckled. "Are you that desperate to see me naked?"

"Yes, but I promise not to look."

"People," Mia said, "did you forget that you are not alone?"

Frankie smiled. "Yes, I did, but can you blame me? Did you see Dagor's eyes? They are hypnotic."

Frankie had a reputation for being overly direct, though she usually wasn't as open with men she'd just met. But Dagor was a god, and he could most likely read her mind, so what was the point of trying to play coy?

"He does have beautiful eyes," Mia agreed.

"Thank you." Dagor's lips turned up in a satisfied smirk. "I must find your eyes just as hypnotic because I, too, forgot that we are not alone." He put one arm behind her back and the other under her knees and lifted her. "I'm just taking you to the bedroom and bringing you a change of clothes. Then I will leave, and Mia can take my place."

"I'm fine," she protested weakly.
