“Vitri!”
Tori’s voice penetrated my consciousness.She sounded panicked, and I sat up abruptly.The sun was peeking over the horizon, casting long shadows through the woodlands.Was there danger?Was she hurt?
“Vitri,” Tori cried again.She struggled against the vines, her eyes wide and panicked, although I was thankful her pupils were back to normal.“Why am I tied up?Please, let me go.Please.”
I loosened the vines but didn’t release them.“How do you feel?”
“How do I feel?Fucking tied up and uncomfortable.Let me go.”
Slowly, I released her, the vines sliding back into place around my torso and arms.I watched her cautiously as she pushed herself to her feet, wobbling slightly before righting herself.Tori clutched her head, still glaring at me as though this was my fault and accepted the water bag as I offered it to her, taking a tentative sip.
“Why was I restrained?What happened last night?”She looked at the remnants of the fire and the fur from the gorae.“Why am Inaked?I don’t remember eating, going to bed, or anything.”
“You were poisoned.”
“By that little plant?But it didn’t kill me like you thought it would.I was immune.”
I shook my head, my shoulders trembling with the effort to keep calm with the memories of Tori grinding on top of my lap.“It drugged you.You threw yourself at me.”
She clasped her hands over her mouth.“Oh my God, did we…”
I snarled as I stood, and she stepped back, eyes wide.“I wouldnevertake advantage of you.”Tori glanced down then, more aware of her nudity than before, and attempted to cover her body with her hands.I wished it were my hands on her.
I snapped.
With a roar, I grabbed her shoulders and walked her backward until her back slammed against a tree on the edge of the woodlands.“Do you haveanyidea how hard it was to resist you?”I leaned in close, deeply inhaling the scent of her hair and skin at the nape of her neck, making her tremble.“You werebeggingme to fuck you.Begging.” I released another snarl, and Tori made a slight squeaking sound.
I think I was frightening her, but my control was hanging on by the smallest thread.
And I could smell her arousal.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, trembling.“I didn’t do it on purpose.”
I grabbed her hands and lifted them above her head, pinning them against the tree.She never took her eyes from mine.There was no fear in them, only determination and heat.“Can you?”I breathed the words out, hovering my hand over her chest, ready to cup her breast.
“Can I what?”Her voice shuddered as my lips came so close to hers.
“Can you do it on purpose?Beg me?”I took another deep inhale of her scent before I licked along the base of her neck and up to her ear.“I need you.”
“Vitri…”
“Do you not want me?Do I disgust you?”
“No, no… Idowant you, it’s just…”
We stared at each other for a beat longer, but I never found out what the end of her sentence was.Tori closed the gap between our lips and snaked her tongue into my mouth, forcing my lips apart and deepening the kiss.I groaned against her lips, and with a mammoth effort, pulled away, shaking.“Are you sure you want this?”My grip on her wrists tightened, still held above her head as I took in her body.Her nipples were pointed from arousal, and she was rubbing her thighs together.From the moment I had first seen her, she had awakened something in me I had long forgotten how to feel.Beyond the need to protect and care for her, I needed toclaimher.Last night, she had almost driven me to the edge, forcing me to fight against the urges built into my DNA and my very being.If I started to take her, I didn’t know if I’d be able to stop.
I wouldn’t be able to stop.
She had to be sure.
“Are you sure?”I asked again, pulling away a bit and studying her face.“I need you to be sure, or we’ll stop right now.”I wasn’t sure I could, but for her, I would run to the other side of the island if I had to, to keep her safe from me.
She took a shuddering breath, a world of thoughts playing across her face.“I’m sure,” she whispered, and her next words broke whatever control I had left.“Please fuck me.”
