Miya fell asleep to the soft beating of his hearts under her ear.

Miya woke to rumpled sheets and a toasty-warm body pressed against hers.

She smiled. She had barely gotten some sleep but she couldn’t be happier about it. She had lost track of the number of times either she or Therak had woken the other during the station’s night cycle, desperate for yet another round of sensual merger.

Though, she had to admit some of the times she had woken up to check Therak was still there. That’s what happened when you left the serious talk for ‘much later’. She didn’t know whether it was safe for him to stay on the station. What if she woke up to find he had disappeared as suddenly as he had appeared in her bedroom?

“You’re awake,” a husky voice said in her hair.

She wiggled her ass against his rock-hard length. “Mhmm, definitely awake.”

His hold around her waist tightened.

So cuddly and possessive… His hard exterior hid many pleasant secrets like that, some of which Miya was yet to uncover. If she ever got the chance, that was.

Miya turned in his arms until she was facing him. “We need to talk, Therak.”

He pulled her flush against him, placed a hand at the back of her neck and only then said, “Ask away.”

She took a deep breath. “You are here now but for how long? Are you still on the run?”

“The bounty on my head has been withdrawn.”

“Therak, that’s huge!” She felt like a victory dance was in order, and he had spoken so matter-of-factly. “Did you eliminate your boss?”

“Corcoraba still lives, despite deserving the death I nearly delivered.” Therak rested his forehead on hers. “To get what I wanted, I had to reach an understanding with him instead.”

“Yeah?”

“He took the bounty off and made sure the Intergalactic military consider me dead. I promised not to pay him assassination visits anymore and keep the info on him in a safe place… unless something happens to me.”

“Unless he messes with you, right?”

A dangerous smile split his lips. Then he grew serious again. “I also destroyed all the records the military had on me. It took some planning and an infiltration of a well-guarded base, but it was done. Now I’m truly free.”

Miya smiled, genuinely happy for him. “No more running and hiding.” She kissed the center of his chest then cleared her throat. “So… what’s next?”

He rested his forehead on hers again. “I wish to travel for a while. Explore new places and cultures around the galaxy… for fun.”

Miya gasped. She had said the same to him back on Xera when he had asked her about her plans for the future. Did that mean…?

She pulled back to look into his eyes. They were light blue now. He was worried, but why?

She placed her hand at the back of his neck and caressed him soothingly. “Are you sure that is what you truly want? No working?”

He nodded.

“Do you know how to holiday? You once told me you don’t do fun.”

“I’ll learn. I want to try what regular people do for a change.” The blue in his gaze intensified as he added, “Problem is, I’m in need of a pilot.”

Her eyes widened. Was he asking her to…?

“I was told that this space station offers the services of a very good one,” he went on. “One known to accept risky jobs.”

She bit her lip to hide a smile. “Oh, really?”
