"What if he checks with Aida?" I ask. "He's paying. I can't rely on her to cover for me."

Josie grins. "I have an idea. Let's go back to the rack."

Aida is hanging a garment bag on a rail.

"Your fiancée chose a dress," Aida says, nodding at the garment bag hanging on a nearby rail. "I made only a few minor adjustments. You'll be able to take it with you when you leave."

I unzip the bag and check it out. To my surprise, Morgana has chosen in line with my requirements. Organza sleeves and an ivory A-line with a flared satin skirt. Pretty and modest.

I hate myself for caring. But I can't bear the thought of other men looking at Morgana with the same wolfish hunger I feel when I'm near her. She's beautiful, and there's no disguising that, but the fewer excuses I have to act out tomorrow, the better.

The girls wheel around simultaneously as I come into the dressing room. They're trying on tiaras, and Lili and Josie wear sage green bridesmaid dresses. Morgana is wearing jeans and, God help me—my shirt.

"This is him?" Josie asks, gawping at me. "Oh, you didnotlie, Morgana."

About what?

My wife-to-be sidles over to me, and I can tell she made short work of the champagne from her uneven steps. "I chose a dress, Vladi. It's exactly what you wanted. Aren't I a good girl?"

Holy hell.I cannot believe she just threw that out there. If we were alone, I don't know if I could resist fucking her right here.

"Yes, you are," I say, smiling at her. "I looked at the dress before I came in here, and it's perfect. Thank you for doing what I asked and not giving me shit over it."

Something closes down in her face, and I feel a wrench of concern.

It's necessary to marry her. I know what I'm doing is wrong, and I can't take it back now. But I no longer hate the idea. I want her standing there beside me, swearing to be mine. Sure, it's all fake, but damn. It's all I can think about.

Morgana pouts. "You're not supposed to see the dress before the wedding!"

"I won't see it again until you walk down the aisle." I can't help but grin at her outrage. "I didn't get a good look. And besides, it's not as though it's a real wedding, lisichka."

"What does," Josie pauses, struggling with the word, "lisichkamean?"

"Little fox," Lili says. "Because of Morgana's red hair."

Fuck's sake. I love Lili dearly and can't stay mad at her, but did she have to give that away?

I cough and turn to Josie. "I'm told you need a job?"

Josie nods. "Yes, please. You murdered my employer, and while I'm not complaining, a girl's gotta eat."

"Okay. Bright and early Monday morning at Kislev Enterprises, FiDi. Sasha will set you up."

"Who's Sasha?" Josie asks. "Your P. A?"

Sasha's head appears around the door. "Fuck, no." He flashes a grin. "Vladi justthinksI am."

Josie snatches the tiara off her head as my brother approaches. He has the panty-melting sex appeal that ruins a particular type of girl, and Josie's Betty Page bangs and tongue stud put her firmly in that category. Sasha sees the effect he's having, and I know he's gonna do that thing he does.

"Do you want a ride with me?"

There it is.

Josie's mouth is hanging open, and Morgana nudges her. "In thecar," she whispers.
