"Yeah." He shrugs, but I can see the excitement in his eyes. "I'll get it. I'm ready."

How did he get that pitch?

"Well, good luck with that." I can't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. The Vanderbilts are a mega client. They're one of the wealthiest families in the city—and they have high-profile social connections. Securing a deal with them would be a game-changer for the company, putting us on the map among the top architectural firms.

"Thanks." He straightens up, stepping away from my desk. "Catch you later, Bailey." His gaze lingers on me for a moment too long before he turns and walks out of the office, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

As soon as he's gone, I let out a deep sigh and turn back to my computer. There's no time to waste on Logan and his infuriatingly handsome face. No time to fantasize about what might have been or what could be. I've got a promotion on the line, and I need to keep my head in the game.

I channel all my energy into work for the rest of the day. I pore over layouts, blueprints, and spreadsheets like my life depends on it.

And by the end of the day, my desk is a mess of crumpled paper and half-empty coffee cups, but I've made more progress than I have in weeks.

See. This is the Bailey we know and love.

I sit back in my chair, a satisfied smile on my face.

No distractions. No Logan. Just me and my work.

I feel like I'm back in control. And it feels damn good.

I leave the office for the day and make my way over to meet Rachel at our favorite nail salon. We get our nails done every other Thursday as an intro into the weekend.

As I sit in the massage chair, my feet soaking in warm water, Rachel fills me in on her latest dating drama.

"So, I met this guy on a dating app, right? He seemed pretty normal, kind of cute. We decided to go for drinks. Everything was going fine until he started talking about his cats." She pauses for dramatic effect. "Not one, not two... he has seven cats!"

I choke trying to suppress my laughter. "Seven?"

"Oh, it gets worse."

"Oh God..."

"He named them after the Seven Dwarfs from Snow White!" Rachel is barely able to contain her own laughter. "I knew this date was going downhill when he started reciting their names."

We both burst into laughter, causing a few other salon patrons to give us the side-eye. But we don't care. We're here to unwind and let go of the stresses of the week. As Rachel's nails are being painted with a bright pink shade, she glances over at me curiously.

"So, what's new with you and Logan?"

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing."

"Come on, don't play with me, girl. You guys were flirting up a storm that night."

I shrug, trying to play it cool. "It was just a one-time thing."

Fuck. What did I just say?

Did I just out myself?

"What?! You slept with him? Bailey!"

My eyes go wide.

"Spill the details."

"There's nothing to spill." I try to brush off her teasing but she knows me too well.

"You're blushing! Oh my God, you did it at the office, didn't you?"
