“You’ve got to be kidding me. I know at your big age you didn’t just pee on yourself,” Jaasiel says, standing in the doorway. “When you get your shit together, just know I owe you a beating, and I want you sober, so you won’t have any excuse as to why you got fucked up. Now we gave your ass time to pull it together, but you are getting worse, Aryan. You have to get yourself together; this is ridiculous. Even if you don’t want to go after Brooklyn, you still have a life to live. Get your stank ass up, get in the shower, shave and get ready. I know this shit is hard as hell, you’ve never been like this before, and I am here to help you through this, but I can’t take this shit again. Personally, I think the fact that you’re fucked up because Brooklyn left is crazy to me. You knew she wasn’t happy, and you had to know that that we’re friends shit wasn’t going to last forever, so you laying there in your own piss because she finally walked away and took you by surprise is confusing as hell to me. If that is what you wanted, to keep that type of relationship, you should have gotten a different woman. Brooklyn is tough as nails, smart, independent, and then her ex made her rich enough to be okay for the rest of her life, hell, several lives. Outside of loving you, she damn sure doesn’t need you and you walking around here talking about we’re just friends. Well, now you are?”

“Is this supposed to be a pep talk?” I ask, still on the floor.

“It’s a truth talk. Get your shit together. You’re a fucking Brennan-Gideon! Act like it. Oh, and by the way, I heard the women talking, and supposedly Brooklyn has a really nice-looking doctor working with her that she calls T-Mack. I bet he wouldn’t have a problem claiming her,” he says, walking out of my bathroom.T-Mack?I think as I drag myself up so I can shower.

Brooklyn

It has been a couple of weeks since the impromptu lunch date with the ladies. Once the movers were done carrying my desk in my office, they put all the things they packed up back where they found it, just like they were never there. I hugged each one as they left, leaving me and Dr. Mack to lock up.

“When are you going to tell your family that you are pregnant? They seem like they would support you. They obviously love you,”

“It’s a bit more complicated than that, but I appreciate you not spilling the beans,”

“I wouldn’t do that. You asked me not to. Um, but is Eliza, uh, single?”

I have to laugh. “Yep, as far as I know, she is. You know she’s black, right?”

“I figured as much, seeing as her identical twin sister is black,”

“Just making sure,”

“Well, come on, let me walk you to your car,” he says, changing the topic.

I am glad they came when they did because little McKinley Arylyn Brennan Gideon is showing her little ass. I have done a good job hiding my pregnancy, but it is getting increasingly harder she is going to be at least ten pounds if I am lucky. “Little girl, stop slap-boxing with my kidneys I think as I fold another onesie and place it in the drawer. The furniture store is supposed to be bringing her crib today since it was on back order and set it up. There are also supposed to be several other deliveries to finish off her nursery. I rub my belly since she has decided to be a U.S. Olympic gymnast inside of my stomach. I have no idea how tiny ass Skai was able to carry Megan and Anson’s baby because I am way bigger than she is, and this baby is putting me through the wringer. I have taken to wearing leggings and tank tops while I am home, but it may be time to invest in a belly band to help support the weight of my stomach. I drop the other t-shirt on the top of the dresser when I hear the doorbell ring and rush to answer the door.

“You’re right on time,” I say, pulling the door open.

“You have got to be fucking kidding me!” True exclaims.

“I knew it!” Skai declares. “I recognized the signs.”

“So you just weren’t going to tell us? Brooklyn, you didn’t have to do this alone. We would have been there for you, we are here for you,” Savvy says, pulling me in a hug.

“When are you going to tell Aryan?” Megan asks, making me look at my feet so I can figure out how to answer her.

“Oh, so he knows!” True says. “Oh, I’m going to fuck him up.”

“Please don’t say anything.”

“And that is why she didn’t want us to know,” Carla says. The furniture trucks pull up as we are talking in the doorway. “Come on in, let’s talk about it,” I say, moving back so they can come in and give the movers room to come in. The women make their way to the kitchen as I show the guys to the room so they can get started.

“I don’t think you can keep this a secret, Brook, the brothers wanted us to come and invite you to family dinner, and there is no way you can hide that belly,” Parker says.

“What are we getting ready to have, a niece or nephew?” Joyce asks.

“A niece,” I say. “McKinley Arylyn Brennan Gideon. And Carla, can you draw up papers that terminate his parental rights to my baby?”

“I mean, of course I can, and you really think he is going to sign those papers?”

“Yes, I do. He let me leave and be gone all of this time knowing I am pregnant, so I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t sign them.”

“I’m just going to say them other brothers are going to fuck him up,” Megan says.

“Yep, and I am going to help them. Parker, you got an extra set of brass knuckles?”

“Yes, I do,”

“Good. I am going to have to borrow them.”
