“We found your desk,” Skai says, walking in.

“Actually, we had the desk made for you. With the matching conference room table,” Megan says. “When Skai told us you were disappointed that the desk was no longer available, we reached out to a woodworker, paid him double to move your stuff to the top of the line, and waited for it to be done so we could surprise you.”

“You guys, this is too much,”

“It’s not enough,” Joyce and Carla say simultaneously.

“Dr. Maxwell the coordinator called about the health fair we agreed to… Oh, I am sorry, I didn’t realize you were busy,” Mack says when he looks up from the papers he was reading.

“Well damn,” everyone says.

“It’s okay, Mack, let me introduce you to my friends,”

“Sisters!” they all say, correcting me.

“Sorry. Sisters,” I amend.

“Ladies, this is Dr. Mack. He is the other doctor who will be working here,” I tell him as I introduce everyone.

“It was nice meeting you all, and once again, I am sorry, I interrupted. I hope to see you ladies again. I haven’t seen her smile this much since she opened the doors. Come see her more often,” he says, walking back out as quickly as he came.

“Girl, you realize you’re single now, right,” True says, never one to mince words.

“Wow,” Joyce says. “Way to be sensitive.”

“Fuck sensitive. She’s single and ready to mingle. You know what they say the best way to get over a man is to get under another one,” she says with no shame.

“I can’t with you,” Megan says, shaking her head. “But you could do worse, he is real easy on the eyes.”

“Look at you. You’re finally able to bust it wide open for Anson, and you’re giving freak’em advice,” Carla says.

“I hate all of you,” I say, laughing. “Leave Megan alone, and I’m good, thanks.” As we are running our mouths and getting caught up, the movers bring the new table in the conference room with the matching chairs, so we all go in there to talk and get out of their way in my office. We didn’t have any more patients for the day, so I sent May, my secretary, and Zoe, the nurse practitioner, home for the day and closed the office. When I tried to send Mack home, he politely declined.

“I got it!” Eliza says, walking in with Emerson, both of them carrying bags of food from Hedonism.

“Who was cooking today?”

“Praise and Jaasiel,”

“He told me he was staying home today,” Parker says.

“Girl, leave that man alone; he is doing the Lord’s work! Empty those bags, and let’s eat. I’m starving,” True tells her. We work together to get the food and drinks out and set up.

“Hey Dr. Maxwell, I am going to head out..” he pauses in the doorway, leaving his sentence trail off as he locks eyes with Eliza. We all ping pong between the two watching a whole conversation happen without either of them saying a word.

“Um, why don’t you stay and have dinner with us,” I offer.

“Um, uh, I uh don’t want to intrude,” he says, finally ripping his eyes away from a red-faced Eliza.

“Oh no, you’re not intruding,” Emerson says in her smokey voice, making him swing his head hard in her direction. His wide eyes swing from one sister to another. “Please stay. We insist,” she follows up.

“Um, sure, if you insist,” he says, taking a seat where he can keep an eye on Eliza. An hour later, we’re full, laughing, and having a wonderful time.

CHAPTER18

Aryan

I can’t remember the last time I have eaten or even washed my ass, and I really don’t care at all. Damn, my head feels like it weighs a thousand pounds. I hold my hands in both hands as I stumble to the bathroom, tripping over an empty bottle of whiskey. Fuck, I need to clean my floor up. I use my foot to push the bottles to the side as I rush to the toilet so I don’t pee on myself. I stumble again, but this time, I am not fast enough to catch myself, and I end up falling, and yep, I’m peeing on myself.
