“No, I was waiting for the dad so he can sign it,” she barely has the words out of her mouth then I take the paper out of her hand and scribble my signature in the father portion of the document.

“Wait, Erin?” I ask Brook. She had been indecisive about the middle name up to this point.

“Yep, after her daddy,” she says. “After all, you saved our lives and delivered her, it was only fitting.” she supplies.

The nurse is done with her examination of the baby, wraps her up, and hands her to me. Well, actually, I take her out of the nurse’s hands. “Hello, McKinley Erin Brennan Gideon,” I say, and as if she can hear me, she opens her little eyes, and I see my yellow-brown eyes looking back at me. Yep perfect.

Eventually, the rest of the family shows up, and she gets passed around like a dish on Thanksgiving. The cops removed the bodies. Jabarri’s video footage shows we were attacked and were defending our home, so there aren’t going to be any official charges, and we plan to use the attack as proof of the danger Alondra and Salove are in, so they can remain in America. They don’t know Nabeck is dead, and honestly, we don’t know what might await them if they were to go back.

“So, uh, it’s time to break out the tuxes again, I asked Brooklyn to marry me, and she said yes,” I announce.

“I mean, that big ass diamond on her finger kind of gave that away,” Carla says.

“That could have been a push gift,” Joyce says.

“This family doesn’t give rings for gifts. They give them for life,” Savvy says.

“She has a point,” Joseph says.

“Y’all have six weeks,”

“You’re tripping,” Skai says.

“It can be done,” Atlas says.

“It’ll have to be at Peter’s hotel, our house is fucked up,”

“Oh, right!” we all say.

“We have a lot of work to do, oh and congratulations, you two. It's about damn time,” Josh says.

CHAPTER25

Six Weeks Later

Brooklyn

It was a long time coming but I am finally marrying Aryan. McKinley and I were able to come home the next day, and she has been a joy ever since. She hardly ever cries, sleeps through the night, and is a complete daddy’s girl. Construction has started on the compound, and the family has taken over their resort until the house is ready. Aryan and I are living in my house with plans to move into the compound completely once it’s ready.

I am in the concierge lounge waiting for the wedding to begin. Mercy was able to make my gown, the peach and dress with gold details is nothing short of stunning. I cut my hair back to my beloved brush cut, and my snap-back game is top tier. As a matter of fact I weigh less than I did before I got pregnant. The knock at the door brings me out of my reminiscing, “Come in,” and the women walk in in their cream-colored gowns. Skai’s dress is cream and gold since she is my maid of honor.

“Alright, girl, we can finally give you this,” Skai says, handing me the jewelry box. When I open it, I see the charm bracelet all the wives have. Mine has a stethoscope, a Caduceus, MD, a cap & tassel, B, B, G, and the year I graduated.

“I’m official now!” I say as Skai fastens it around my wrist.

“Are you ready?” Megan asks.

“I am.”

“Good, after today, I won’t be the rookie sister-in-law,” Parker says.

“It’s time,” Lennox says, peeking her head in the door.

“Alright, ladies, let’s go. We’ll see you down there.” Savvy says as they all walk out of the room, leaving me by myself again. I look at myself in the mirror and pick up the ring hanging from my necklace before I slide the lock around, unfastening it, and slide it off of my neck.Edreece,I think. In some ways, I wish he was here, but if he was, I would probably be married to him, but I miss our friendship at times. The door opening has me standing, but the hand on my shoulder lets me know who has walked into the room.

“Aryan, what are you doing in here?”

“I wanted to see you before the wedding. How are feeling?”
