He was holding a revolver that could only be fired six times before needing a bullet restock. He and Jayden already wasted five bullets, leaving him with one.

If he wanted, he could try to pick another gun from the floor, but I guessed he was smart enough to think that we would be faster than him.

I almost laughed as I saw his breath quickening and his chest heaving up and down. Even his sons weren’t this scared while looking at Alex, but he was seeing Jordan and heaving like this?

What a stupid coward he was.

“At least you die. You weren't supposed to be born.” He hissed and my face jerked as the realization that he was right. “Give my greetings to Marie, tell her I’m sorry that she had to die.” He smirked cockily and fired the gun.

“No, no, dad wait,” Jayden yelled and stepped in between us, getting hit by the bullet instead.

No wait, Jayden got hit by a bullet.

I watched as Cedric’s mouth fell open, his jaw almost dropping. I watched as Jayden grabbed his stomach and fell to the floor. I watched as his hand started getting bloody and that was when I heard it. A scream.

It was a very ear piercing scream that wrapped around the whole room. A toe curling, bone chilling scream that sounded like someone being tortured. Whoever screamed this loud was in pain, a really great pain and it was only when the scream ran with me to Jayden’s side that I realized that I was the one screaming.

Fear.

Fear had always been a strange feeling to me since I became an assassin. I’d been worried, I’d been surprised, hell I’d even been nervous, but I’d never been scared.

Staring into Jayden’s eyes as I cupped his face, I realized that I was scared of losing him, scared of losing what we already had and what we were currently building.

“Son,” Cedric called shakily. I pursed my lips and clenched my fists, immediately standing up. I needed someone to hold me, I could feel myself going insane.

I couldn’t contain myself in one body anymore and I wanted to burst.

My eyes searched for a weapon and as it caught a gun, I picked it and hit Cedric’s face. He groaned, grabbing his bleeding nose, but he soon recovered and returned his focus to Jayden.

I didn’t want him looking at Jayden, I didn’t wantanyonelooking at him. My vein popped in fury and I kicked him hard with a loud scream. He fell to the floor, but I didn’t leave him.

I straddled him and punched him over and over, screaming into his face. Blood covered my fist, but I didn’t have time to check if it was blood from his face or blood from my fist.

I landed repeated punches on his face until he no longer moved under me.

I suddenly heard a groan, not from the man under me, but from Jayden. I cussed out loud as I removed myself from Cedric and ran back to Jayden, a heavy fast breath hitting my chest.

“Why did you?” I sobbed out. Tears pooled and blurred my eyes, but I didn’t do anything to stop them as they fell on his cheeks. “Why did you come in between us, are you stupid?”

His lips curled into a grin and he raised his bloody hand to hold mine. “Can you not scold me now? I’m hurt.” He forced out, his face squeezed up. He was in so much pain and I couldn’t do anything, but scold him.

Talk about being useless.

“Ah yes yes, I’m sorry. Fuck, I’m so sorry,” I choked on my tears and he whimpered, even though I could tell he was trying hard to not show that he was in pain.

“Flower,” he called and I cleaned my tears, giving him my full attention.

“Yes.”

“How do people still fight after being shot in movies? This is… this is hurting like hell,” he said and I giggled even though tears were still pouring from my eyes.

“Yes, it hurts.”

“Have you ever been shot?” He asked and winced almost immediately. I placed my hand on where he was shot, and he held my hand to it as if trying to stop the pain.
