“Um?” He urged and I shut my eyes with an inhale.

“He ran back to the hotel to meet his brother after I hinted that I might have hurt him.”

“Oh.”

“He hadn’t seen me in ten years, but he still ran back to his brother, letting me go again. Not even caring that he might not see me for another ten years. He still cares for his brothers, despite what they did to me, even though he has not seen me in ten years.”

I didn’t know why it hurt more than usual. I hated him and I shouldn’t care, but still…

“Oh don’t say that, Jordy. That was an instinctive response. No matter what, Troy was still his brother, so the blood called for him. He ran at the thought that he might be in danger just the way you immediately called your mother at the thought that she might be in danger. Don’t fault him for that.”

“Bye. I’ll call you so don’t call me.” I changed the topic and he sighed, knowing I was done with the conversation.

“Alright. Please call me, okay? At least once a while, hm?”

“Hm. Now hang up.”

“Okay bye, I love you.” He immediately hung up and I threw my phone on the bed with a huff.

Two of four done. Now I just had to take Ariana and Kendal to the boarding school on Monday and after that, I would have no disturbance.

* * *

I parked up and crying sounds filled the car. I groaned as I didn’t want to go through it again. I spent the weekend convincing Ariana and Kendal to go to boarding school, but they both refused.

But here we were, and it was almost like I kidnapped and brought them to the school.

Kendal had always been telling me how much he wanted to study like anormalkid, but all of a sudden, he didn’t want to study anymore because it was a boarding school.

I didn’t know I was so important to them that they didn’t want to study because they wouldn’t see me whenever they wanted. They were just being demanding and I was done with them.

“Get down guys,” I stated softly, as I saw Mr Rey coming to get them.

“No Lexi please, don’t let us go.” Ariana cried and even though Kendal couldn’t speak, his expression said everything. His eyes blurred with tears.

My heart clenched looking at him. I was sure he’d never hated the fact that he couldn’t talk until now and it was all my fault.

“We won’t bother you anymore. I won’t be rude to you anymore and I won’t roll my eyes at you anymore. What did we do to you? Why are you sending us away?”

“Sending you away? Ari, you’re being dramatic with this. I’m taking you to school in a better place.”

“I don’t want a better place, I want you. I want to stay with you. Kendal also wants to stay with you, he does. You’re being unfair to us. You don’t love us the way we love you, you’ve proven that to us many times. You always push us away when all we want is…” She choked on her tears and curled herself to her brother who gathered her in a hug.

How could she say I didn’t love them? Ariana was too dramatic and it was exhausting.

“It’s not called ‘sending you away,’ it’s called going to a school. You can’t be with me all your life, you still have to go to school at some point.” I tried to make her understand, but she shook her head and I frowned.

“I would have believed that if it were to be someone else, but it’s you, so you are sending us away.”

I rolled down the glass of my car as Mr Rey smiled at me “Are these our new students?” He asked and I nodded. “Well come in, you’ll love your classmates.” He smiled at the kids who looked at him with no humor in their eyes.

Ariana was practically shooting daggers at him, proof that she was not entertained by him one bit and if the situation at hand wasn’t serious, I would have laughed.

“Get down guys,” I repeated, soft but stern.

‘Promise us you’ll come to check on us when you can.’ Kendal signed, the tears fogging his eyes refused to fall.

“I will come and check on you when I can, I swear.” He nodded and tugged Ariana to get down from the car.
