“Okay, my baby. Please be careful.” I nodded and left without looking back.

Gideon was a very stupid man. He was about ten years older than me, but he was a really dumb man. I guessed the saying was right; old age didn’t equal good sense.

When I first met him, I was really surprised at how foolish the man could be, and whenever I was less busy I still sat to think about just how stupid he was.

We couldn’t stand each other. Sometimes I hated how he breathed and sometimes he hated how I breathed. We had no reason to dislike each other so much, but we did.

I wondered what he wanted this time.

I entered his office to see that he was not the only one there. He had his head bowed with Yusuf standing beside him, while Madame –a customer– sat in front of him with her legs crossed.

Just like me, Gideon and Yusuf were assassins, but while they killed anybody the customers requested, I only took the jobs of anyone who could have been involved in any illegal sexual activity.

Gideon glared at me, but I winked back, earning a chuckle from Yusuf.

I liked Yusuf on the other hand, he was smart and his plans always worked.

“Oh Lexi is here. Welcome love, it’s so nice to see you. How are you?” Madame slurred and I rolled my eyes, wasn’t she trying too hard at this point?

“Get to the point, Madame,” I snapped at her, causing her smile to drop, before she picked it back up.

“Oh come on, don’t be so mean to me now. It’s Gideon.” She pouted.

“Oh I know it’s Gideon, it’s always him. What did he do this time?” I taunted, smirking at Gideon who kept on glaring.

“He failed to kill Mrs. Grey, and you know I need her dead,” she whined and I beamed brightly.

Mrs Grey had spent seven weeks in my unofficial list.

To Madame, she wanted Mrs. Grey dead because she was a mistress to Mr. Grey, who was a governor. And being his mistress meant she had no rights whatsoever to his properties. Once Mrs. Grey was out of the picture, she would marry Mr. Grey, divorce him after some time, and get a share of his properties.

But to me, Ineededher dead. I desperately needed to kill her because she was involved in the latest shipment of some girls she bought from a trafficker in Sudan and sold to a grooming whorehouse.

I already had the receipts of the transactions and other evidence, the only thing needed was her dead body. But I wasn’t going to tell them that. I wouldn’t get paid if I did.

“Damn Gideon, you couldn’t even get a woman?” I taunted, earning another glare from him. I just loved teasing the stupid man.

“You bitch, better…”

“You don’t have the right to say anything, so shut up.” Madame interrupted him from saying anything. She then turned back at me, batting her eyelashes. “So will you do it? Uhn?”

There was silence for a while as she waited for my response, the air thick with anticipation. Yusuf cleared his throat. “Madame, I told you Alex doesn’t take this type of job, she…”

“I’ll do it,” I announced. Madame’s eyes shone with excitement and Yusuf raised an eyebrow at me. Gideon looked so bored you might as well think we were talking about who got to pick the next meal for dinner.

I blinked at Yusuf in a way to tell him that I’d explain why I took the job later, and I redirected my attention to Madame. “Two hundred thousand. No less, but I can take more.” Gideon didn’t hide his shock as he widened his eyes on me, his lips parting as if he wanted to say something. Something like…

“Bitch, two hundred? She was going to give me a hundred.”

“You are Gideon and I am Alex, we are not the same. She was going to give you a hundred because she knew you wouldn’t get the job done anyway.”

“I swear to God...” He started threateningly, but Madame cut him off.

“No,Iswear to God, if you get her mad and she refuses to do this job, better watch your back because you have no idea how much I need that bitch’s head.” She snapped at him.

He narrowed his eyes at me and I pouted. Yusuf breathed out a laugh, and Gideon eyed him and me skeptically.
