Well, color me pink. "You are." I scowl. "How did you know?"

Trevor rolls his eyes. "You're just as clueless as he is."

"Clueless?"

"PJ had some errands to run so I gave him the day off."

"I see. Great. Well, thanks, Trevor."

I turn to leave, and he clears his throat.

"Yes?"

His smile widens. "Our bet?"

"I thought you were kidding."

He shakes his head, still grinning. "I wasn't. Next time you see PJ, you're asking him out on a date. Deal?"

He stretches his hand out. I stare at him for a few seconds before shaking it. "Yeah, okay. Deal."

I don't know what the exact ordering system in the library is, but my favorite books in the world are the ones that need to be stacked on the lower shelves, because as I turn the corner PJ disappeared around a moment ago, I'm greeted by the splendid sight of him bent over, arranging books on the bottom shelf.

His pert ass is delectable. Everything about him is. His tiny frame. His wild red mane. His mismatched eyes.

And if you want to do more than just ogle the guy like some pathetic loser, you're going to have to keep to your end of the bargain you made yesterday, and ask the guy out.

Easier said than done.

The library is about to close, and in the two hours I've been here—staring at PJ and not studying like I should be—I haven't worked up the courage to ask him out on a date.

I clear my throat so I don't startle him. PJ straightens and spins around to face me. "Oh, hi, Branum."

His voice is a little shaky, and I can't help but wonder if I intimidate him. I'd hate it if I did. I may be bigger and stronger than him, but I never want him to be afraid of me.

My shoulders tense as I start to speak. "I… There's… I'd like to ask you something."

PJ places the three books he's holding on the trolley, then taps it twice with his index and middle finger. "Is it about the weird thing I made you do the other day?"

I shake my head. "No. That wasn't it."

He lets out a sigh. "Shit. Is it about me seeing you at the river?"

I shake my head again and smile. "Nope. Not that either."

"Maybe I should just shut up and let you talk? Sorry. Go ahead."

This is it. The moment of truth. Adrenaline spikes in my veins. I open my mouth. "PJ, would you like to have dinner with me?"
