He lets out a deep laugh. It's a nice sound, I could get used to hearing it."I'm not even that, I'm a first-year psychology student, same as you, I assume?"

"Not according to my mother," I mutter."She wanted me to be a doctor."

"You didn't want it?"

"Not even slightly. But I didn't have the grades for it anyway, biology wasn't my thing. All the technical terms."

He raises an eyebrow."And psychology is much better?"

"What can I say?it sticks in my head better," I respond.I pick up my tea and take a drink.

He nods."I get it.Psychology is a compromise between my dad wanting me to take chemistry and my mum wanting me to take theatre."

"And what did you want to take?"

"Anything that would get me out of the house and into a dorm where neither of them can argue over my future," he responds.

"That bad?"

"Maybe with psychology, I can be my own therapist," he jokes.

I laugh."That's one way of doing it.We should really get back to studying then, if you want to get the qualifications to be your own therapist, then you're going to have to work at it."I tap my notes with my pen.

"Mmm, perhaps.So....the lecture."He leans over my notes.

I turn my attention back to psychology.Though I suppose it isn'tbackto it, more like actually to it.But it's nice to know that I'm going to get on with my study group. It'll be a lot better for actually getting studying done.

Darius

I enterone of the student union's meeting rooms, only half surprised to find the other three members of the HeartSoc committee are already waiting there.

"Hey, Darius," Carmel says as I enter.

"Hi," I say to the other cupid, sitting down in the nearest empty seat.

"All right, that's everyone, which means we can actually start."Rico glares at me as he says it.

"He's such a stickler," Carmel murmurs.

"Tell me about it, I wasn't even late."

Rico gives me a look that seems to imply that he knows what I'm saying.I could swear he had supernatural hearing despite that not really being a cupid thing.

"We've finally got the go-ahead from the student union to be able to do the advice sessions that we've been asking them for," Rico says.

"Wow, I never thought they'd say yes," Carmel mutters.

Rico nods."They say we have to fully disclose the situation with cupid magic on all of the information about the event, and that we have to tell someone as soon as they sit down and ask for our advice. The academy doesn't want to be held liable for anyone being fed off."

Carmel wrinkles her nose."It's not really feeding, though. It's not like we need to drink or eat the feelings. And I mean, we can just go out to a coffee shop and soak it all in there."

"Those are the rules," Rico says."If we want enough money to be able to run the events we want to at the end of term, then we need to do something, and this is how we're going to do it."

"How much are we even charging?"I ask.

"A tenner per ten-minute conversation."
