“It was just all too much and my emotions got the best of me. Oh, God, I’m so embarrassed. That’s never happened before.”

His shoulders slumped in relief and he slowly pulled out. “Christ, you’re lovely.” He pressed a lingering kiss on her shoulder and murmured something else.

Sparkle?

“Did you just call me Sparkle?” He’d said it a few times and she’d been meaning to ask. This seemed like a pretty good time.

Just when Aubrey thought he couldn’t get any more gorgeous, he blushed. “The first time I saw you in the cantina, I thought you had this light. Almost like you sparkled. Stupid, I know.”

“It’s not stupid. It’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.” Once again, her eyes flooded with tears. “Dammit.”

Gray helped her wipe them away and smiled.

A real, true, genuine smile. And it ignited the purest joy in her heart and soul.

“And meeting you was the nicest thing that’s ever happened to me. Sometimes…I wonder if you’re even real.” Awe filled his voice and before she could respond, he leaned in and kissed her so passionately her head spun and her toes curled. When they finally came up for air, Gray slid out of bed.

“Be right back,” he whispered.

He disappeared into the bathroom for a minute then returned, sliding back into bed and pulling her into his arms.

“I know I shouldn’t ask, I have no right to expect you to say yes after what happened last night, but will you stay with me tonight, Aubrey?”

Vulnerability filled his voice and Aubrey pressed her lips to his chest. “Of course, I will.”

“If the night terrors come…”

“I trust you, Gray.”

She curled up against him, determined to keep his nightmares at bay. Even if it meant staying up all night and keeping watch over him.

Chapter Fourteen

Gray held Aubrey in his arms, unsure how he’d ever be able to let her go. Something about her soothed his weary soul, comforting him on a deep level. A level that no one else had been able to reach since he’d lost his brothers. Hell, ever.

They were both exhausted but, at some point during the night, Gray’s eyes snapped open. And, for the first time in a very long time, it wasn’t a nightmare that woke him up. It was the delicious wiggle of Aubrey’s bare ass against his growing cock.

He licked the shell of her ear and whispered, “Are you sleeping?”

Her answer was another tormenting wriggle.

Fully awake and roaring to life, he grasped her hips and flipped her over.

Aubrey smiled up at him and his heart clenched. “How’s your arm?”

“Aching less than my cock.” Her eyes widened comically and he gave her a wicked grin. He liked smiling again. And he wanted to spend the rest of his time on this Earth giving Aubrey every single one.

“Well, maybe we should do something about that.” Her hand disappeared beneath the sheet and wrapped around his hard length, stroking and squeezing until he was ready to blow.

He returned the favor, his hand diving between her thighs, exploring and pleasuring her as she did the same to him. A low groan tore from his throat. “You’re so wet,” he growled in her ear. Focusing on her clit, alternating between light and firm circles, he dipped a finger in her slick core, studying her reactions as he tried to figure out what she liked best. What made her sigh and whimper. What drenched her sweet pussy.

Aubrey arched, her hand tightening around his cock, and he looked down, watching as she stroked him. At the sight of his precum leaking on her fingers, he groaned again.

“Fill me up, Gray,” she ordered.

Whatever his Aubrey wanted, she would get.

In a lightning-fast move, he grabbed a condom, tore the package open with his teeth and hurriedly rolled it on.
