“Turn on your side,” he rasped, guiding her over and pulling her up against his front. He parted her legs and slowly entered her slick passage from behind. Aubrey dropped her head back against his shoulder and he curved his hand around her body and began working her clit again.

Throwing his big thigh over her, locking her against him, he thrust up. Desire blurred his vision and he sank deeper, stretching her sweet body until she cried out and pushed down, trying to take more of him.

Gray slammed up, burying himself inside her wet heat, and his release threatened. “Goddamn, you feel good. So perfect.”

Aubrey clutched his arm, nails digging into his skin, and then cried out as her body tightened and pulsed around his cock. She pushed him right over the edge and into sweet oblivion. With a roar, he sank his teeth into her shoulder and came harder than he ever had in his life.

Holding her tight, their bodies trembled with delicious aftershocks.

After a long moment, he pressed a kiss to her shoulder then pulled out and quickly disposed of the condom. He couldn’t get back into bed fast enough and he drew her small body against his chest, wrapping her up in his embrace. There were no words to describe how much he liked her there, in the crook of his arm, filling his nose with the beautiful aroma of gardenias.

“Is it always like this for you?” Aubrey asked softly.

“What do you mean?” Gray pulled back so he could look into her expressive, indigo eyes.

“Sex,” she clarified. “Is it normally this good? With other women, I mean?”

Suddenly, her face turned crimson.

“I mean, oh, God, I just assumed it was good for you, too. Because I’ve never experienced anything like what happened between us. I shouldn’t have assumed. Maybe it sucked for you and—”

“Sparkle? You lit up my whole goddamn world.” He caught her mouth in a long, slow, searing kiss, making sure she had no further doubts. Her body relaxed and she returned the kiss eagerly.

Gray didn’t want her to second guess or question his desire for her.

“Don’t ever doubt how much I want you. Or how different you are from the others. Because you are in every single way.”

“You have no idea what that means to me.” Once again her eyes glistened with unshed tears. “Oh, damn.”

“Please, don’t cry.” He hated seeing her tears, even if they resulted from an epic orgasm. She seemed on the verge of telling him something and he wanted her to confide in him. “What is it?”

“It’s just…I haven’t put myself out there in a very long time.”

“Me neither,” he admitted, tucking a lock of dark hair behind her ear.

“Since you lost your team?”

The words should’ve made him flinch and pull away, but they didn’t. Instead, he found himself moving a little closer. “Even before that.” His gaze searched hers. “Who hurt you?”

The look on her face told him a lot, but not the asshole’s name or specific details.

“Scott,” she whispered.

“Fuck Scott.” He immediately hated the bastard.

Her mouth edged up. “You don’t even know what he did.”

“He made you upset. That’s enough.”

Aubrey traced a finger over his chest, through the light dusting of hair there. “A year after my brother died, I decided to try dating again. Now that I look back, I think it was more out of loneliness than actually wanting a relationship. Garrett was gone and my parents were lost in their grief. I didn’t have anyone.”

“I understand.” And he did. Better than most.

“I found a sort of solace in cooking and would lose myself in the kitchen making different dishes and desserts. There was no one else to share them with…”

He nodded, encouraging her to continue.

“I ended up gaining a lot of weight. Maybe twenty-five pounds. But I was so damn depressed and—”
