“I’m going to need a really big hat and a very small bikini to fit in on that fancy boat,” she said from behind him.

“I was hoping you would say you don’t get seasick,” he said, turning to face her with his dazzling smile.

“I kicked Mariah out and told my brother I’m in love with you.”

His eyes grew big. “Wow, who are you and what have you done with my girlfriend?”

Stepping into his arms she ran her hands up over his shoulders to link behind his neck before stretching up to kiss him. After several sensual kisses, his hands gripped her hips, and he pulled back to look her in the eyes.

“Are you okay?” Conner asked.

A lump formed in her throat, but it was more from the joy of finally feeling like there was nothing to stand between them. She was in love with Conner Maguire and wanted everyone to know.

“I feel fantastic. The fundraiser was a success, and I have you. What else could a girl want?”

Conner’s mouth was on hers again. This time, his kisses were urgent and fierce. Years of pent-up disappointment and desire unfurled. His mouth possessed her, and she ran her hands under his suit to feel the muscles of his back. Before they could get too carried away, he rested his forehead against hers.

“I love you, Hannah. I want to be with you every day from here until forever.”

“That sounds perfect because I love you too.” Her face ached from smiling—she would never get tired of hearing him say that.

“I can’t believe you bought that boat ride.”

“Yacht, baby, and I hope you have a passport.”

“Are we really going on that trip?”

“Why else would I have purchased it? I told you I was going to kidnap you. Why not do it and go to the Maldives?”

“But your brother’s fiancée wanted that for their honeymoon.”

“They can come with us if they want, but I’m not giving them a twenty-five thousand dollar wedding gift. That is uncouth, I think.”

Hannah couldn’t help but laugh at his attempt at a polished demeanor when he spoke about money.

Once she managed to catch her breath, they walked back out under the twinkling lights of the gala holding hands. The dance floor was packed, and everyone was enjoying the night. Conner pulled her into his arms, and they moved together as if the noise and people around them weren’t there. This man was everything she wanted and more than she knew she needed. Loving him was going to be easy now that he wasn’t off limits.

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Conner ran hishand up and down Hannah’s back as she lay on her belly, sprawled out in his bed. Her red curls were splayed out along his pillow, and her lips slightly parted as her body slowly rose and fell with each breath. She was exhausted after the gala. By the time every vendor and volunteer departed, it was after two in the morning before they could lock up. He drove her back to his house and put her right to bed. His bed.

He almost couldn’t believe everything was going to work out. Hannah had made it clear even before that, she wasn’t going to let doubt stand between them. He loved her before, but now it felt like they could have a real future. They could make plans together, starting with their trip to the Maldives.

“How long have you been awake?” she asked with the side of her mouth still pressed into her pillow.

“Just long enough to admire your gorgeousness.”

Her mouth turned up in a smile as she rose to push him back against his pillow. Her legs straddled his hips, but he kept her chest pressed against his.

“We forgot something last night,” she whispered in his ear.

“We did?” He pushed her hair back so he could see her face.

Her eyes opened with a squint of mischief just before she pressed her hips down over him.

“Oh, you’re correct. We did.”

He didn’t have a chance to say more as she took over the moment.
