“Sort of. I got a brownstone closer to your office instead of that apartment I was looking at. It needs some work, and I thought maybe we could decide on updates together.”

“That sounds perfect.”

“Are you sure? Because I wanted to surprise you but then realized maybe you would want to help pick out your next home.”

“I’ll live anywhere with you.”

“You really do love me.”

“For ever and ever,” Finn promised.

Epilogue

Hailey’s palms weresweating, her nerves were so shot, and this was only the first day of their wedding festivities… What had she been thinking, agreeing to all this? After Finn proposed, she hadn’t thought too much about how to plan a wedding until they agreed neither of them wanted a long engagement. Now after dating for a year, they were about to be man and wife, and she didn’t have any doubts about it. She wasn’t scared to tie herself to Finn forever, or be his wife, but she didn’t love the idea of being on display for the ceremony or tonight’s rehearsal dinner.

“Babe, are you in here?” Finn’s voice called out as she heard their hotel suite door open and close.

Taking a deep breath, she smoothed her white-and-navy striped dress. It was a strapless piece she’d loved in the shop because the top had a flouncy ruffle to it that made her feel feminine, but in the bright light of the bathroom she realized how much it showed her scars.

“Hey, gorgeous, are you almost ready? The boat is here.”

Finn appeared behind her in the mirror, and his appreciative gaze took her in. Her blonde hair was curled into soft waves, and she had a tan from their recent weekends at the lake. He stepped farther into the bathroom and pressed his chest against the back of her body as his arms enveloped her.

“This is a nice view.” His eyes met hers in the mirror before he kissed her neck.

“I’m worried that maybe this is showing too much… skin.”

Reaching in her makeup bag she pulled out some cream she used on occasion to cover some of the bolder scars.

“I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable.”

Finn sighed. “Everyone here loves you and only sees your beauty, but if it will make you more comfortable, then do it. I don’t want anything to distract you from enjoying the day.”

His mouth pressed more kisses over her shoulder and collarbone, and she could feel the stir of arousal between them.

“You’re about to distract us both into missing this boat,” she said, craning her neck to meet his mouth in a hot, take me now kind of a kiss.

“Maybe we can borrow a paddleboard and catch up to them later,” Finn said.

His hands spun her toward him, and he slowly pulled up the hem of her skirt before lifting her up onto the bathroom counter.

“We’re going to be late, and everyone will know why,” she breathed as she undid his belt and her knees rose to frame his abs.

“Ask me if I care later.” With one swift motion, he was buried deep inside her, and all her self-conscious worries floated away as Finn loved her into orgasmic bliss.

Thirty minutes later, they were both freshened up, and she was only worried about her mussed hair and the bright pink blush in her cheeks when they finally arrived on the pier. There was a large seventy-four-foot sailboat waiting with all their closest friends and family for them. Luckily, the music was playing, and everyone seemed to be having a grand time before they even set sail.

“The bride and groom are finally here. We can set sail. Shiver me timbers,” Conner yelled to the crowd, receiving a boisterous response.

Finn helped her up the steps, and she easily found her sea legs on such a large boat.

Finn’s mom hugged her first. “Hello, my soon-to-be brilliant daughter-in-law. You look ravishing. A little time out of the office suits you.”

Finn winked at her over his mother’s head.

Next, Mr. Maguire pulled her in for a warm hug, and she had to admit she enjoyed their affection. While falling in love with Finn had snuck up on her, falling for his family was a given. All the Maguire kids instantly treated her like one of the family, and she was still shocked a year after meeting Finn to feel so much belonging.
