“How could you?” Dad’s voice is laced with sadness and disbelief. Dad’s face contorts with anger as he looks at Skylar. “I don’t know who you are,” he says, his voice trembling. “You are no longer my daughter.” He turns to Stone. “Get her the hell away from my family.”

Detective Hans slowly approaches Skylar with a stern look on his face, his hand reaching down to pull out a pair of cuffs from his belt. “Let me see your hands,” he orders in a commanding tone, his eyes scanning Skylar’s every move with a watchful gaze. The tension in the air is palpable as Skylar complies, her back now facing the detective as she awaits what comes next.

Then Stone delivers the news that shatters my heart into a million pieces. “There’s more.” Stone says.

“More? How can there be more?” Dad says.

Stone continues, "We received a letter from Tiffany confessing to certain events. In this letter, Tiffany revealed that Skylar had threatened to expose her father, the mayor. Tiffany wanted to protect her terminally ill mother from the repercussions. Skylar had planned the entire incident with utmost precision. Tiffany was drugged. She too was a victim." he explains, the words cutting through me like a knife.

Stone pulls a small recording device from his pocket and presses the play button. The sound of Tiffany's voice fills the room. "She recorded part of the conversation," Stone adds, and hits play.

"What proof are you talking about?” Skylar asks Tiffany.

"You forgot I have cameras in my apartment," Tiffany begins. “I knew the moment I woke up in bed with Derick, something didn’t seem right. He was just as confused and groggy from the drugs as I was, so I checked the cameras. You came over that night to talk and I watched you put something in my tea when my back was turned. You drugged me and I collapsed onto the couch. A few minutes later, Cole walked into my apartment. You both exchange words and he dragged me to my room, I’m assuming to undress me since I woke up naked. Then he walks out of the room, and you gave him a wad of cash. "Tiffany sniffles and takes a harsh breath. She tries to compose herself before she continues to speak. "Then two hours later," she says, her voice quivering. "Cole drags Derick into my apartment—" she gasps, unable to finish her sentence.

The room is filled with an eerie silence.

Tiffany's voice trembles as she speaks. "Derick and I never slept together," she says, her words choked with sobs. "Whatever you gave us knocked us out until the next morning. Then the love of my life walks in and finds us in bed. He left that day thinking the people he loved betrayed him."

I can hear hands clapping loudly in the background, and Skylar's wicked laugh echoes in my ears, sending shivers down my spine and making me cringe in discomfort."Congratulations! You figured it out.”

“You are sick.” Tiffany says in disgust. “I’m taking you down. I don’t care what happens to me. Seth and I were happy and in love, and you took that away! Your actions hurt him and his family in the worst way possible. How could you?” She sobs.

"I'd think twice about that. You don't want me to reveal your secrets, do you?"

"What secrets?" Tiffany asks in confusion.

"I wonder what your dying mother will do when she learns that her husband has been unfaithful the entire time she's been sick? Imagine the ramifications for your perfect little family."

"You bitch!" Tiffany screeches.

Skylar's laughter and tone is laced with bitterness. "You are an unbelievably spoiled and entitled brat. Your father still showers you with love and attention despite him fucking around on your mom! Unlike my own father, who callously cast me aside and never even bothered to extend an invitation to come live with him. Well fuck him! I suppose getting his precious doodlebug raped, and taking his only son away is part of the suffering he deserves.”

The atmosphere in the room becomes tense as we all freeze in place, holding our breaths.

Tiffany breaks the silence with a whisper, "What are you talking about?"

"I paid Cole to drug Scar. Apparently, he enjoys taking advantage of innocent girls. I think he felt it made up for all the times his brother abused him. You thought his brother died of natural causes?" A chill runs down my spine at Skylar's words.

"Oh, you did." Skylar's shocked and saddened tone was fake, almost mocking. "Well, I can assure you he didn't. The twisted fucker killed his own brother. So, I guess that makes me twisted too since I killed my own half-blood.”

Heavy weeping echoes through the room as we all try to process and come to terms with Skylar's confession.

“But then you sent him a copy of the recording. The moment I intercepted the email he sent Maverick wanting to meet, I had to make sure that meeting wouldn't happen.”

She killed my brother.

“Oh, my God! You killed him?” Tiffany wails. “You are so fucked up!” You play with people's lives when you don’t get your way. What the hell is wrong with you?”

“You damn right I did! I was his first born! I never got a nickname, or the hugs and kisses they received at night. It wasn’t fair!”

We hear a sudden scuffling sound and then two sharp slaps on the flesh. Tiffany lets out a small whimper of pain.

“I’m going to turn you in, you sick bitch!” Tiffany screams, and Skylar's tone is cold and unforgiving as she speaks up.

"You listen to me," she hisses through gritted teeth, "If you turn that tape in, Scar will suffer a painful death, then her mother while dear old dad watches. So, don’t fuck with me. If you want to save them, keep your mouth shut and leave. Leave this state and never come back.”

As I listen, my ears detect the faint sound of scuffling noises emanating from a distance and then suddenly everything goes silent.
