Detective Stone hits the stop button on the recorder. “Tiffany was able to get away. Once she heard about your rape allegations, she sent us the tape.” He starts to speak, but my eyes are transfixed on Skylar.

I launch myself off the bed towards Skylar. Her eyes bulge like saucers, and a wicked gleam tugs at the corners of her lips, forming a sinister smirk as she witnesses my sudden charge. But before I can reach her, I feel a pair of robust arms envelop me, pinning me back against a hard, unyielding chest, preventing me from moving any further.

"Please, Tink, don't do this," Ricky whispers into my ear with a pained expression. "It's not worth it."

“She killed him! She killed Seth!” I cry, and he wraps his arms around me, holding me close. Gently, he lowers me to the ground, cradling me in his lap.

In my dream, Seth told me,"Things aren't always what they seem, Skittles."

He didn’t give up.

He never stopped fighting.

He knew Dad and Tiffany were set up.

My emotions began to take over. I felt a growing anger and frustration at the injustice of it all. And then, like a dam bursting, I screamed. I screamed until my voice was hoarse, my cries filled with an overwhelming sense of desperation.

Suddenly, I hear the bitch laughing manically. “Wait, wait, there’s more!” she exclaims amidst her uncontrollable fits of laughter.

“Shut up and turn around!” Hans barks the order, but she doesn’t listen and takes a few steps back.

"Maverick,” she says.

I pause, my attention focused on the rapid thumping of his heart. It's as if the world around me has come to a standstill, with nothing else mattering but the sound of his heartbeat.

“I was never pregnant. You can’t get pregnant if you never had sex.” She hisses the last part. “I just made it look like you did. Those damn drugs knocked you out on your ass.”

"What did you say?" Maverick says in an icy tone.

"Oh, please. Nothing happened.”

"You are a piece of shit, you know that?" he yells, his voice filled with frustration and anger. I can feel the tension in his body as he grips me tightly. Looking up at him, I notice the intensity of his gaze and the deep furrows on his forehead.

"Right." Her voice was heavy with hurt and disappointment. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that many lives were destroyed because of her selfish ways.

Suddenly, Mom is screaming. "You manipulative bitch!" And she launches at Skylar and slaps her face.

Not once, but twice.

Dad tries to hold onto her, but she's too fast. "You killed my son! Had my daughter raped! You evil bitch! You deserve to die!' Mom's screams turn into sobs as she continues to wail on her.

Hans tries to intercept, but Skye reaches for his gun. In a split second, Maverick reacted, spinning me around and throwing his body on top of mine. The air around us crackled with energy as if we were caught in the middle of a storm.

He buries his head in my neck and whispers those three words, "I love you," I can feel the warmth of his breath against my skin. My heart races as I try to hold back tears, but they flow freely down my cheeks. At that moment, I knew it was the end of us. The end of our love story that had just barely begun.

Then a shot rang out.

My heart races, and I scream in terror. My father is crying, and I struggle to hear anything else over the pounding of my own heart. But there is no sound from my mother, which scares me the most.

As I cry, my body trembles with fear of the unknown. The seconds tick by like hours until I hear my father's voice again. "No," he says, but I can hear the relief in his voice. My breath catches in my throat as I wait for more, and then I hear him say, "Thank God." I feel a wave of relief washes over me.

Maverick pulls back and looks down at me with tears streaming down his face. I wipe them away, and he leans in to kiss me quickly. "I love you," he says, and I reply, "I love you too."

As Maverick helps me stand up, Stone asks if we are okay. I can feel the heat of tears rising behind my eyes as my parents rush to us. We all embrace, holding on tightly, as tears stream down our faces. We cry for Seth, who we have lost, and for ourselves and our family, who will never be the same. The room is filled with the sound of our sobs, and the weight of our grief hangs heavily in the air.

I glance over my parent's shoulders and see Skylar in the corner, blood surrounding her dead body.

No tears are shed for her.
