But I didn’t.

Anger took over again. “You got yours. Now get the fuck out of my house!”

“Don’t act like you didn’t enjoy it.” The corner of his full lips quirked up. “You’re my little slut. Of course you loved me dominating you.”

“If you don’t get out, I will tell Vegas you raped me.”

His hand flew to my throat. “You fucking bitch. Don’t you threaten me. You’re going to listen to everything I have to say.”

“Please, stop.” I squirmed below him, shaking my head no.

He released me. “You make me fucking crazy, Ella. Always have.”

“Ditto.” I rubbed my sore neck. “Say what you want, then get out.”

He stared at me with a dumbfounded and hurt expression for a long second.

“What?” I snapped. “Did I hurt your feelings because I don’t give a crap about what you have to say?”

“Yes. You should want to know why I didn’t return.”

“After five years, it doesn’t matter anymore.”

“It fucking matters to me!” His eyes teared up, and the sight stole my breath away. He had never cried in front of me. “It fucking matters to me, after everything I’ve been through. Just let me explain. You may not forgive me, but maybe you won’t hate me so much.”

“Fine. Get it off your chest, then I want you to leave and never bother me again.”

“How can you be so coldhearted?”

“Really? How dare you say that to me after you abandoned me?” I thrashed beneath him, utterly disgusted by him. “Get off me.”

“I didn’t abandon you. A fucking tumor made me lose my memory.”

His words rocked me to the core. “What did you say?”

“Here.” He pointed at his forehead. “It’s right there, and the ruthless fucker destroyed both of us. I’d forgotten you and who we were to each other.”

I stared at the spot he pointed at, unsure of whether to believe him.

“I’m not lying. Remember all those stress headaches I was having? They got worse after I left town. I was moodier and more aggressive than usual. I thought it was because I hated being away from you. Then the day I launched my attack on my sperm donor’s club, I had a seizure. My guys barely got me out of there before we were caught. Two of Xabier’s and Keeno’s cousins were murdered on the spot, and a third was tortured to death.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “And now you remember me? After five years?”

“My memories were a jumbled mess. I thought you were my ex-girlfriend.” He lowered his head in shame, like he was hiding something. “Xabier and Keeno had taken me to Mexico to their uncle, a doctor, and he discovered the tumor and treated me. My crew knew about all the shit with the Knights and had kept me off the grid. I stayed in Mexico for a year to get treatments before returning to Texas.”

“And you lost your memory? You didn’t know who you were?”

“I lost some of my memories, not all of them. I knew who I was, remembered my mom, Keg, and the club.”

“But not me.” My heart shattered all over again.

“Baby, I’m so fucking sorry. When more memories returned, I knew something wasn’t adding up. That’s when I sent my crew to investigate.”

“You admitted to cheating on me. Who was she, or was it dozens of women?”

“Her name is Irisah, and she lied to me, Ella. Told me I was her boyfriend. I couldn’t remember anything, so why would I question her?”

“Because apparently my name is on your cock. That’s a big fucking deal, don’t you think?”
