“Yes, and Irisah said it had been a stupid teenage boy’s mistake. She was the only person around, filling my head with lies.”

“What about Xabier and Keeno? Didn’t they tell you Irisah was lying to you?”

“No.”

“So they’re not very good friends, yet you brought them with you.” None of this was adding up. I might have believed he had a tumor, but something other than not remembering me had kept him from returning.

“Irisah manipulated and threatened them. They fucked up, but I’m giving them another chance.”

“Will you please get off of me?”

He sighed, pulled out, and rolled beside me. Instantly, massive amounts of his cum slid down my butt crack. There was so much, I’d have to change the sheets before I could go to sleep.

“I’ll be back.” I went to the bathroom, numb and overwhelmed. I needed a minute to process and to pee and clean up after the best fuck I’d had in a very long time.

Was Rocky telling the truth about the tumor? Why would anyone lie about having cancer?

I wished I could believe him, but I was afraid to trust him. What if he broke my heart again? I peeked into Rockson’s room. He was sleeping peacefully. No matter how I felt about Rocky, I needed to protect my son.

Tiptoeing back to my bedroom, I steeled myself before I faced Rocky. He wasn’t in my bed when I entered. The door closed behind me, and I jumped.

“Sorry, I was afraid you might’ve come back to stab me to death.” He smirked and took my hands. “Phew. No knives.”

“Don’t be stupid.” I rolled my eyes. “I wouldn’t dirty up my room. I’d take you outside to make it easier to bury your body after I stabbed you hundreds of times.”

“Oooh, so vicious.” He gripped my waist. “I love it.”

“I’m sorry about your cancer.” I sat on the edge of my bed. “Is it life-threatening?”

“If you’re concerned I’ll keel over and die any second, don’t be. It’s slow growing. When I take my meds, it’s manageable. I should live a long, normal life with you.”

“With me? I’m engaged.” I raised my hand. Whatever happened tonight between Rocky and me didn’t negate that he was in danger. I had to continue faking I was engaged to Vegas—at least until I spoke to Tomcat.

“Give the ring back.” He kneeled between my legs and cradled my face. “There is no fucking way I’ll let you marry Vegas.”

“I’m only doing it to protect you. Tomcat overheard Vegas and Sid planning to take you out after you’re sworn in as president. Vegas doesn’t love me. He just wants to take what’s yours.”

“Are you saying you’re mine?” A cocky grin appeared on his handsome face.

“No. I’m saving you from being roadkill.” I wouldn’t give him my heart back so easily. There was still a lot we had to work through.

“Because you still love me.” He cupped the back of my neck and pulled me toward him. “And I love you too.” He dragged his lips against mine, teasing me.

“You’re moving too fast.”

“I’m making up for lost time.”

“Where’s your woman at?”

He froze and reared his head back. “Gone, and you don’t have to worry about her. I’m yours, baby. Just like my cock says.”

“We’re not back together, Rocky. But I’m curious, did it hurt?”

“Not really. It’s fucking awesome, isn’t it?” He sat beside me.

“I guess.” Then something popped into my head. “Have you been in my bedroom before tonight?”

A sheepish grin appeared on his face.
