“Congratulations, daddy,” Keeno said with a smirk.

“Thanks.” I looked at my boy.

“Are you going somewhere?” Xabier asked.

“Yes, with my woman. I’ll be back in time for the vote.” I looked back at Ella. She appeared worried as she rushed toward me. She should be. I was mad as hell at her.

“Be careful.” Xabier bore his dark eyes into mine. “Vegas won’t be happy if he sees you alone with her out there.”

“We’re not sticking around. And Vegas can suck it.” I grabbed my dick, then stormed out of the building, not holding the swinging glass door for Ella.

“Ouch!” she shouted when the door banged into her. “What’s going on with you?”

I stalked to my hog and straddled it.

“What happened?” She rubbed her shoulder.

“Get on,” I commanded her. She had no choice in the matter, and I had no patience for her disobedience. The boy wasmine. Two fucking weeks had passed without him knowing I was his dad, and I wouldn’t let another day go by.

“No.” She squared her shoulders and glared. “Not until you tell me what’s going on.”

“Put your ass on my bike, or I’ll beat the shit out of you right here!”

“Excuse me?” Fury flashed in her eyes. “You want to beat me? Then why the fuck would I want to leave with you?”

“Don’t fucking test me, woman.”

“Just tell me what flew up your ass. And it better be good because Vegas will be pissed if I leave with you.” That sarcastic mouth of hers lit a fire in me.

“You must have a death wish.” I seethed at her words. How dare she mention him? “Get on. We’ll be back before he returns.”

She huffed and straddled the seat behind me. “You’re so frustrating.” She wrapped her arms around my waist.

I took off with a start and ignored her. She was just as frustrating, if not more than me. Soon she’d learn I knew the truth, and I couldn’t wait to hear her talk her way out of lying to me.

There wasn’t a single cloud in the blue sky above us. The day had been pleasant for early May, not too cool or warm, but perfect. I took Ella to our spot on the outskirts of town, where no one roamed and her screams wouldn’t be heard.

Tension rolled off my girl in waves. She was scared. And she should be. Too much time had been lost as it was, and she had intentionally kept me from knowing my son.My.Son. I couldn’t let that shit go. She’d better speak the words I needed to hear, or I would torture her until she broke and begged for mercy.

I slowed my hog, stopped at the perfect spot, and killed the engine. “Get off.” I squeezed my handlebars and pushed out the kickstand.

“Rocky, why are we here? What happened back at the bar? Whatever it is, we’ll figure it out.”

“Get the fuck off, Ella,” I hissed through my teeth.

She hopped off and wrapped her arms around her middle.

I dug into my saddlebag and removed a couple of necessary items.

“This can’t happen.” Ella’s eyes went wide, and she backed away from me. “Not until Vegas and the others are dealt with. Someone could catch us.”

“Oh, you think I want to have fun and chase you in the woods?” I laughed maniacally. “No, baby. That’s not why we’re here.”

“It’s not?” She took a few more steps back.

“No.” I dramatically got off my bike and stalked toward her. “Did you know a woman was recently murdered out here?”

“That’s awful. I hadn’t heard.” She stepped back.
