I got my phone and called Xabier. I didn’t have any of the Hell’s Bells’ phone numbers. That would change in short order now that I was president.

“It’s too early for phone calls, boss.”

“Get your ass up and find Tomcat. I need to speak to him.”

“Everything all right?”

“No. Just find him and have him call me.”

“Will do.”

“I’ll be at the club around eleven thirty. Meet me there.” I ended the call and finished putting my clothes on.

As much as I needed every man to help me destroy the Knight’s Legion MC, Vegas and Sid didn’t deserve to live another day. They’d crossed the line and would die tonight.

But I couldn’t think about them right now. I was about to officially meet my son.

I’d ducked into the bathroom after leaving Rocky, to put some makeup on to hide the bruise on my face. Judging by the way Rockson was keeping his intense gray eyes on me, I’d failed. I could tell that he sensed something was up.

“Did you have fun with Joy last night?” I whipped the batter with a smile on my face.

“Mhm. Is someone in your bedroom?”

Crap, he must’ve heard Rocky’s voice.“Yes, buddy. I was going to mention it to you.”

“Is it Tomcat or Vegas?” He twisted his lips and stared at my bruise.

“Neither.” I put the bowl down and sat in the chair next to him.

“Then who?”

“Do you remember Rocky? The man who brought the apple pie and who was talking to you yesterday?”

“Yeah.” He furrowed his brow and twirled the butter knife in front of him.

“Well, he spent the night, and we have something important to discuss with you.”

“What?”

“Let’s wait for Rocky.” I patted his shoulder and went back to the stove. He didn’t seem like his usual cheery self. Could he be angry that I let a man spend the night? Or maybe a little jealous?

Rocky entered the kitchen. “Morning, buddy.”

“I’ll get you some coffee.” I turned around and smiled. Rocky had surprised me this morning. His concern and fury had soothed my broken soul. I wished I hadn’t doubted him, but Vegas had gotten in my head when he had threatened Rockson. The emotion in Rocky’s voice and his eyes showed me how much he loved me. And here I’d thought I couldn’t trust him.

“And how are you this morning?” he asked Rockson, sitting next to him.

“Fine,” he muttered.

I placed the mug in front of Rocky. His arm went around my waist and he held me there.

“Your mom and I have something to tell you.”

“I know.” Rockson picked up the butter knife and stabbed the stick of margarine I’d set out for the pancakes, multiple times.
