Admittedly, I felt like a baby for not sucking it up. Rocky was probably littering the ozone with profanity and explaining in great detail what he would do to Vegas and Sid.

I tried calling Tomcat again and got his voicemail, so I left a message. “Where are you? Call me right away. I need you.”

It was a quarter to twelve when we arrived at the clubhouse. I bolted out of the car and went to Rocky. “Please don’t do anything stupid. Remember your plan to take down the Knights. You need your members, and they’re all loyal to Vegas.”

“Ella, I love you. You know that, right?”

“Yes.”

“Good. I don’t need you telling me how to run my club or how to deal with Vegas and Sid.”

“I know. But—”

He crushed his lips to mine and kissed me wildly. This man was out of his ever-loving mind. Anyone could see us and run to Vegas. But I couldn’t push him away and instead kissed him back.

“Do you trust me?” he asked.

That was a difficult question to answer. “I want to trust you.”

He reared his head back. “Ouch. Just stab me in the heart, why doncha…”

“I’m not trying to hurt you. But every man in my life has hurt me in some way. I haven’t been able to trust anyone since you left.” Not true. I had been able to trust Tomcat and rely on him until last night.Until last night…Uneasiness washed over me. Was he all right? Why wasn’t he answering my calls?

“I understand. I don’t like it, but I understand.” He dropped another kiss on my lips. “I’ll show you that you can trust me. You and Rockson are the only people who matter to me.”

“Keep talking to me like that, and I’ll fall at your feet and worship you like before.”

A cocky grin spread across his face. “Not if I fall first, worshipping you.”

If I wasn’t so sore, I’d fuck him right there in the parking lot. “We should get inside before we get caught.”

He groaned. “Fine. I see Xabier and Keeno are here.” He jerked his chin at a couple of bikes.

“I’ll go in through the back, and you go in from the front.”

“Sure, baby. But try not to forget that I’m the prez and can do whatever the fuck I want.”

I rolled my eyes and darted inside. The place was quiet. No Tami or Mona was in sight, so I went through the kitchen toward the bar. Weirdly I thought I heard a little kid’s voice.

I came out from the back just as Rocky entered from the main door.

“Look, honey. There’s your papa!” a woman with red hair said.

Papa? Who was the papa?

“Papa!” the child shouted and ran toward Rocky. “Papa, I missed you so much!”

Rocky lifted him and pressed a kiss to his head, and my heart shattered. “Irisah, what the fuck is this?”

Irisah. His woman for the past five years. He had a child with her?

“We missed you, Rocky, and I was out of money.”

“Oh, God.” I stumbled back, gripping my stomach.

“Ella, it’s not what you think.” He tried to put the boy down, but the kid hooked his arms around his neck and wouldn’t let go.

“No, Papa.”
