“Not in person, but you know of me. Take him to the van,” he told Tomcat. “Your Harley is a fuckin’ pile of metal now. You could have stopped, you know. We weren’t shooting at you.”

“A little late for that bit of advice. Maybe if you waved me down or had cowboy Tomcat here remove his white shirt and use it as a flag, I would’ve known y’all were friendlies.”

The dude snorted. “I’ll try to remember that going forward.”

“You do that. What’s your name?” I climbed into the van and collapsed on a mattress, out of breath.

“Storm.”

“The fuck you say? Storm, as in… Knight’s Legion Storm?”

“That’d be the one.” He winked and clucked his tongue.

“Oh, hell no.” I tried to get up, but Tomcat held me down. “Brother, how can you betray me like this?”

“They’re not out to hurt you.”

“Bullshit. They killed Keg. It’s because of them I was on the run and lost five years with Ella and my kid.” And now they had me in their possession.

“Keg deserved what he got, and you know it,” Tomcat shot back. “He held Reign against her will and abused her. Vegas pulled the same kind of shit with Ella. Don’t tell me you’re okay with your woman being gang-raped.”

Ella. “Gang-raped? When?”

“The night before Easter was the most recent, but he and Sid got her last night. I went to find you, but these guys intercepted me.”

“I need to go.” I pointed at Storm. “If you’re not out to kill me, then just let me go. I gotta get to my woman.”

“I’m not out to kill; we’ll drive you wherever you need to go.”

“Whatever.” I reclined my neck and breathed through the pain in my side. I must’ve had a fractured rib.

“Prez, it’s Grizzly.” A big-ass man handed a phone to Storm.

“Grizzly is Landon,” Tomcat told me.

“Don’t know who that is.”

“A friend of Ella’s. His wife is Mona’s younger sister. They befriended Ella a year after Rockson was born. They’ve been watching her so they could catch you.”

“Great, and now they have me.”

“We have a situation,” Storm said, raising his hand as if telling us to wait. “Do not lose him. We’re going to Ella’s right now.”

“Don’t lose who?” I sat up.

“Your son. Grizzly passed a car that was leaving Ella’s house. He thought he recognized the woman as she drove by, and Libby saw your boy in the backseat. So they followed the car.” Storm looked at one of his guys. “It looks like Tami, Rat’s sister who tried to take Dodge and Emilee’s baby in Fargo.”

“Jesus Christ. Are you saying she took my son?”

“Yes.”

“What for?”

“To sell. We gotta get to Ella’s. She might be hurt.” Storm hopped in the front seat, and the others piled into the van.

“I need to call Xabier. He and Keeno were going out to Ella’s,” I told Tomcat.

“I don’t have mine,” he replied. “I need a phone.” He put his hand out until someone handed him one, then he gave it to me.
