“Same, boss. You have a beautiful family.” He clapped his hand on my shoulder. “You’re blessed.”

I was blessed and would never take my wife or children for granted.

Life wasn’t always nice to us. The Knight’s Legion MC had been busy keeping our territory safe. Nomads and drug dealers kept us on our toes, and the occasional trafficker. Maddox had been president for four years now. Storm was his adviser. I was a patched member with no specific title. I went and did whatever my president said.

My old man and I were on speaking terms. He adored my children, so like Storm, I tolerated David. But I’d never forget a damn thing he’d done or hadn’t done.

The Minnesota club had gotten into some illegal arms, and Maddox wasn’t in a hurry to find a way out. He and Storm hadn’t seen eye to eye on the topic. But I liked hovering on the edge of being a law-abiding citizen and a criminal.

Rocky Knight would never be 100 percent good or evil. Morally gray? Yeah, sure. Just like Ella and I would never be vanilla in the bedroom. We were two perfectly matched halves of depravity.

I snuggled my baby girl and kissed her head. When she was in my arms, her innocence cleansed my dirty soul.

However, not far below the surface was a psycho who could snap into action if anyone threatened my loved ones.

We had a good life,finally.

And yes, I’d changed my last name from Jones to Knight before I’d married my woman. Ella Knight sounded better than Ella Jones. That was the story I told, and I was sticking to it.
