That asshole. I would beat the shit out of him the first chance I got.

In the meantime, I needed to find a place to hunker down and learn as much as possible about David fucking Knight, my sperm donor. If I cut the head off the snake, we’d all be safe, and I could return home to my woman.

It’d been three fucking months since I’d last seen Ella. Christmas and New Year’s had come and gone. I’d spent both holidays alone, drowning myself in booze and trying not to succumb to my demons: drugs and pussy. I’d been so goddamned lonely and angry.

I missed my woman more than I’d ever thought possible. Each day was a struggle to survive and not betray her. Plenty of prostitutes had offered me a warm bed for the night, in exchange for fucktastic sex, of course. I’d declined but couldn’t deny I’d been more than a little tempted after sleeping in parks and alleys.

Then two weeks ago, I broke down and robbed a convenience store at gunpoint to get enough money for a motel. As luck would have it, I’d plowed into a couple of guys while running with my loot. They’d seen me hold up the joint and were impressed. I’d nearly killed them on the spot, fearing they’d turn me in to the authorities. But no, they wanted me to teach them how to steal everything, from money to cars. In return, they’d give me shelter and food.

I’d taken Xabier and Keeno up on their offer, and things had been going well untilshehad arrived: Irisah. She’d moved in with us a few days ago, and the broad was a force to be reckoned with and had my new friends doing her bidding. But not me. I didn’t answer to any woman other thanmywoman, Ella.

But there was another problem, the weird sparks between Irisah and me. I hated feeling alone and wasn’t dealing well with it, which was why I was fucking stoked to be calling Ella on Valentine’s Day. She wouldn’t like what I had to tell her, but she loved me and would deal. God, I hoped she wouldn’t freak out over Irisah.

Maybe I shouldn’t tell her. Why worry and upset her?

No question Irisah was a cool chick. Attractive. Curvy. Rough around the edges. She’d seen shit like I had, and she’d had a messed-up childhood too. We related to each other in ways Ella would never grasp. That bit scared the fuck out of me. Because I knew myself. All it would take was one drunken night when my demons were assaulting me for it to lead to fucking, and the way Irisah looked at me, she’d happily spread her legs. All the more reason to deal with David fucking Knight ASAP so I could go home to Ella.

Inhaling a deep breath, I listened to the phone ringing. I could strangle Vegas for taking so long to get me Ella’s number. The motherfucker was full of excuses, most of them lame. Every cell in my body told me the VP had been fucking with me, but I had no way of proving it.

“Hello?” my baby answered hesitantly.

“It’s me, gorgeous.”

“Rocky? Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!” She squealed like a schoolgirl, which made me instantly hard. Sometimes when we fucked and she came hard, she screamed just like that. Dammit, I wanted nothing more than to sink into her addictive pussy right this second. “Finally! How are you? Where are you?”

“It’s been hell. But I don’t have a lot of time to talk. I just wanted to hear your voice and say Happy Valentine’s Day. I fucking wish I could spend it with you. I’d fuck you all night long, Ella.”

“Aww, I love you so much. You’ll always be my one and only Valentine.”

“Same, baby.”

“I have a lot to tell you. Gosh, I don’t know where to begin.”

“Not now. Are you doing okay?” The club was filling up and getting louder. Should’ve called her before I’d gotten here, but I was an idiot and had been distracted. Xabier and Keeno were going to introduce me to a couple of relatives interested in helping me blow up David’s compound—for a price, naturally. They wanted to learn the ins and outs of MCs so they could start their own.

“Yes, I’m fine. Missing you like crazy, but I really need to tell—”

“That’s all I wanted to know. Everything else can wait. I can’t afford to be distracted, Ella. Not until I destroy my father’s club and ensure you’re safe.”

“But, Rocky, I need you. Let me come to wherever you are. I don’t want to be in Scornrock without you.”

“It’s too dangerous. You gotta stay put.”

“Why? I have nothing here. I’m all alone. Let me come to you.” Her voice broke. I knew she was crying. Fuck, this wasn’t how I saw the call going.

“Baby, it’s too dangerous. Someone could be watching you.” The music in the background was so loud, I could hardly hear her, and it gave me a headache.

“But I’m—” Suddenly her voice cut off. The damn connection was lost, then she was back and said, “And need you.”

I turned around when Irisah shook my arm and stole my attention.

“Hey, they’re here.” Irisah pointed toward the opposite end of the place.

“Yeah, in a minute. Ella, I need to go.”

“Did you hear what I said?”

Fuck, I hadn’t, but I didn’t have time to have her repeat herself.
