“You’re not wrong,” Konstantin agreed, and gritted his teeth as he tried to take a step.
Everything seemed fast and rushed and intense, but she had to hold on a little bit more.She could do it.Yasmin had waited this long to find someone to love, what was a little more time.She moved to his side, lifting his arm over hers to support him.

“Are you crazy?You survived a mauling by three asshole Tigers, and it looks like they used blades on top of their claws.Tell me they didn’t,” she said, when he appeared surprised.
“How do you know that?Polaski’s Pride was full of the males with the same temperament and disrespect for our kind.”
“I will chew off his other hand if he comes near you,” he snarled.
“Easy, he’s not coming near me for a while.”
“I made a call, Boss.Word spread about what those three thugs did and Ivanovich himself is coming to New York.He knows you are alive, and he wants a meeting.His men will send me word as soon as he arrives.What do you think he wants, boss?”
Uneasy silence settled over them for longer than her Lioness liked, but it was Konstantin who broke it.
“I think he wants what my father would never give him.He wants a Petrov male under his thumb.He wants to use my club to launder his dirty money,” he replied, his voice husky and laced with pain.
“I don’t see you having much choice,” Eduardo finished.
“Look, none of this matters.Not right now,” Yasmin said.
“I will refuse, Yasmin.You do not need to worry---”
“Shhh,” she said pressing her finger to his lips.“Stay with me tonight, Konstantin.Let me make sure you are fully healed before you go off to take care of this whatever this was.”
“You want to take care of me?”
“I need to,” she replied, matter-of-factly.
He just grinned.Yasmin knew his Shifter healing abilities would start to kick in soon.After a night’s rest, he would be much better.He looked at her long and hard, weighing his options before nodding.
“I couldn’t stay away from you now even if I tried.The past few months, I did my best,lyiveetsa, but now you’ve marked me, and my Tiger is snarling at me to do the same.So yes, I want to go home with you.We have much to discuss.”
“First, you heal,” she said.
“First, I heal,” he agreed.
“Uh, boss?”
Konstantin turned to Eduardo.
“Yasmin is my mate, Eduardo.I will go with her and later, I will call you to regroup.”

Her bed was surprising comfortable, the mattress firm like he preferred.But most important, it was covered in her spicy sweet scent.Konstantin had showered upon arrival, and at her insistence, before dropping like a fallen tree onto the thing.He didn’t know how many hours had passed, but he was awake now and the bulk of his injuries were healed.
His stomach rumbled loudly.Damn.He was starving.Healing did that to him, and every other Shifter, he supposed.He stretched and winced at the pull of his skin in some places where the scabs had yet to form scars.Those would be gone in another day or so.Yawning he sat up and saw he was not alone.
“Hello,” Konstantin said and offered the child a small smile.
This was Yasmin’s son.He’d seen pictures of the child on her cell phone wallpaper.He was small, but still young, and he looked just like his mother.
“Hello,” the boy replied, and he could see the child was weighing the man in his mind.
“My name is Konstantin.”
