“Vass,” she whined.

“Vassago.” I pulled out to the tip then dove deep again.

“Vassago!”

“Whose pussy is this?” I grunted, rutting into her.

“Only yours.” Her low, needy voice in my ear was too much. “I’m yours.”

“Mine.”

I lost myself in her. The sounds of our pleasure filled the room until we were both spent and left panting, wrapped in the sweat-damp sheets.

Nothing would ever be more perfect in any life I would ever live.

Her fingers made small circles on my chest, and her brown eyes stared into mine. I could spend hours memorizing each striation of her irises. The way the light hit them to reveal their rich earth tones.

“I love you.” She said it softly, almost hesitantly, as if I wouldn’t move Heaven and Hell for her.

I rolled to my side and pulled her in tight. Words could not convey or contain the love I had for this woman. Every speck of my being and hers had been made to fit together on this plane, at this very moment, in a vast eternity. Every sun in every galaxy only burned to bring us together.

Nothing felt big or small enough.

So instead, I pressed my lips to her and said, “I love you, my Celeste.”

My gift.

Celeste

Who would have known that stealing a book from the library would change my entire world so wholly?

Every piece of the puzzle had fallen into place, and I was happier than I ever knew possible. I was also exhausted. Something about Vassago awoke a sexual appetite in me that was insatiable. Between hours of studying, I was on my knees or bent over a chair in the library. At night, I lost sleep just to be worshiped for hours. He touched me in places I never knew would arouse me and taught me things about my sensuality that no other lover had.

Vassago had granted me more than my academic goals. He was a walking wealth of knowledge and had lived through events that most historians would only be able to speculate on. Secrets that had been lost to time were easily dug up in his memory. He was a walking wealth of knowledge.

Vassago was still territorial and showed his true nature at times. The motorcycle he’d evidently stolen was only the start of how thirsty he was for the fine things others possessed. But keeping his focus was as easy as snapping my fingers and lifting my top. He rarely threatened to kill anyone, but he quickly showed people—Liam specifically—who owned my heart, body, and soul.

Only because I allowed it.

I loved that man.

That demon.

He spoke of our love like it was his greatest longing. The years trapped in the book had been worth his solitude because I was the first thing he saw when released. And in a way, I had also been trapped in a life I’d made.

We’d both been freed, and there was nothing in this world or any other that could come between us. He would never let it.

My protector and champion.

My Vassago.

Vassago

Living with Celeste was the peak of domesticity. She spent her days in class and at the library, and when her day was done—and my watch was over—I cooked us dinner. Never mind that I had been dodging Seere’s and Gaap’s calls since the night Celeste had summoned me to her rescue. But I was out of excuses when there was a knock on the door after I’d put Celeste to bed with a book and hot tea.
