We've won more than a basketball game. We've won love and the chance to build a future together. As the crowd roars, I know this halftime show has become the start of something beautiful.

I sweep her into my arms and kiss her for everyone to see. Let the cameras roll and come what may tomorrow. I care about this moment, right now, with the love of my life holding onto my face and kissing me with enough passion to make me spontaneously combust.

“I love you,” I whisper against her lips.

Her arms wind around my neck and she squeezes tight. “I love you too.”

“Hey, Lover Boy,” Cool shouts at me, his beatboxing mission complete. “Back to the game.”

The team whistles and cheers.

Mine and Trina’s faces take up the entire megatron. I see myself smiling like a goof. “You’ll marry me? In a real wedding. With messy lava cakes and Wrecking Ball Rex knocking the cake over?”

“And Granny Smith belching and hitting on your teammates.” Trina laughs and pats my cheeks. “Yes, Liam.”

I kiss her one last time before backing away. Forever looks pretty good from here.

Chapter 22

TRINA

All of the contestants stand backstage, huddled behind a black curtain. My heart pounds in my ears as I cling onto Liam's arm, ready to hit the stage for the finale night of “Bride at First Sight.”

Liam leans down and places a kiss on my forehead. “It doesn't matter if we lose, babe. The show brought us together. We’ve won the prize already.”

I squeeze his hand. “You're very sweet. But still, I want to win this.” I point through the curtain. “Look, our families are on the front row.”

Liam’s parents and his brother, Clay, sit beside my family. Mom and Dad hold hands. Melanie and Pam sit with their spouses. And little Rex is wriggling on Gran’s lap. That kid better not run on stage and take over the show. I wouldn't put it past him.

The show’s host, Martin Cortez, swings his arms wide. “Let’s bring on the remaining four couples. Please, welcome to the stage, Victor and Regina!”

Regina smacks Victor’s bottom to get him moving, and he jumps through the gap of the curtain like an obedient circus monkey.

“Matt and Deborah!”

Deborah and her man are joined at the hip, not an inch of space between them as they slink onto the stage.
