I look into the crowd to see some of the most prolific faces in the world.

Holy crap, the royal family is sitting in their box.

The nerves are kicking in.

Their regular people, Vio, don’t let it get to you.

I can do this, I repeat to myself over and over again.

I face Letty, the reigning world number one. I brace myself; this is going to be long.

Just by the look on her face, I know this is going to pass two sets.

Throwing my red Wilson bag off my shoulder, I place it down on my bench. Zipping it open, I grab out the racket I’ve been hesitant to use.

Even if Xavier didn’t tell me anything before the match, I would have used it; it’s special.

The sunflower trims contrast the white and it’s the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen. I told myself I would hold off on using it until the time came when I needed good luck.

Today’s that day and if I don’t use it now, then when would I?

My feet take me to the middle of the court. The coin toss is ready to be flipped.

“Heads,” I call out.

I don’t usually speak first, but I need to show Letty that I’m not intimidated by her anymore.

We’re both professional tennis players, so it’s about time I act like one.

Letty is put off by my words, but she doesn’t even flinch.

Raising her eyebrow in my direction, she smirks. “I guess I have tails then.”

The official nods before flipping the coin.

It lands on tails.

The official looks at Letty with a gaze that asks her who’s going to serve first.

“I serve,” she says as expected, and the crowd roars at her comment.

Fair enough.

All I have to do is take away the opportunity for her to score on her first serve. But even if I don’t, I won’t let it faze me. Not everything needs to go as planned.

I’m tired of this god-like perception of Letty. She’s no better than me. She just has more experience and that’s okay.

Ever since I took control of my own life, I’ve become more confident.

I can beat her and just because I’ve always lost when placed against her, doesn’t mean I’ll never beat her.

The first set begins.

Letty starts the match with a dominant display, showcasing her powerful serves and precise groundstrokes.

“Fifteen-Love,” the chair umpire calls out.

I don’t let her serve get to me.
