I feel a buzzing on the side table. My head turns toward the sudden movement, and I reach over for my phone.
Xavier moans in protest at the lack of contact.
“You needy man.” I chuckle.
“I am not ashamed of it!” he tells me clearly.
I shake my head with a grin on my face before looking at the caller ID.
ALEappears in big, bold letters on the screen and at the bottom, it tells me it’s a Facetime request.
I answer immediately.
Ale pops up on the screen, with a big castle behind her.
My jaw drops. They’re in Disneyland.
“¡Hola, desde Disneylandia!” Ale practically cheers in content.
Xavier, who was previously trying to cuddle with me again, pops up and his eyes widen.
“You’re joking.” Xavier grabs the phone out of my hand.
“No, I am not,” Ale tells him.
She looks happy, content.
After her pregnancy that none of us knew about at her wedding, she’s practically glowing.
“Oh my God, is the big bad grumpy man with you?” he questions, obviously talking about Luca.
“Why yes, he is,” she says, darting her eyes to him.
“Don’t you dare!” I hear Luca protest right next to Ale; he’s not in view.
Ale maneuvers the phone so we can see him.
“Oh, my fucking God. Luca Donatello is wearing Mickey Mouse ears; this is officially the best day of my life!” Xavier’s grin is huge.
Luca does not look happy; his face says it all.
His wife is just looking at him with a gigantic smile on her face.
Their daughter Aria is in his arms, looking up at her dad, giggling at the sight of him.
He takes the ears off at Xavier’s reaction, but then Aria begins to cry in his arms. “No, don’t cry,principessa,” Luca coos at his daughter, worry spreading across his features.
Once he puts the ears back on, Aria stops crying and she begins to giggle.
His expression is the definition of a father’s love.
Next thing I know, I hear a click; Xavier just screenshotted Luca with his ears on.
