Luca hears it because he looks up instantly, his eyes gone from love to anger.

“Why isn’t your phone on silent?” Xavier whispers at me, eyes widening as he just got caught.

He must’ve turned the ringer on instead of off.

“I swear to all things holy, Xavier, if I see that photo anywhere but your camera roll, you can say goodbye to your presenter job.” He threatens.

“You think that job matters more than me showing the world a photo that would be hung up in the Louvre?” Xavier is dramatic.

God, I love him.

Me and Ale try to hold in our laughter.

“Xavier, you better not!” Luca says through gritted teeth.

“Done!” He cheers happily after pressing the button for the picture to be uploaded to his story. The text on the photo says, “You’re welcome for the best photo anyone has ever seen.”

My boyfriend is a dork.

“It’s official. You’re dead!” Luca calls out.

“Hahaha, I would like to see you try,” he taunts, pressing the red button on the screen and ending the call abruptly.

“I wouldn’t answer the phone from any number for the next twenty-four hours,” he tells me, grinning from ear to ear.

TWO YEARS LATER

Epilogue Two

XAVIER

“Blondie, I don’t think I’m going to be able to see it!” I’m already gagging and she hasn’t even given birth yet.

The hospital room is in chaos as the doctors and nurses start to hook Vio to the monitors. She’s nine months pregnant and has reached full term.

I’ve done everything I could to prepare for today.

Bought both cribs for each house, painted the rooms, bought diapers, and even watched videos of women in labor. Each time when it got to the baby popping its head out, I had to stop the video in its tracks.

Labor is a beautiful thing, but all the blood makes me want to throw up.

“I don’t care if you don’t want to watch, Xavier. You will be here either way!” Violetta’s eyes are angry as she breathes out. “Ahhh.” Her screams echo through the room. The baby is coming.

“You can do this, Blondie!” I cheer her on.

She doesn’t respond, obviously in pain.

“The baby is coming and fast!” the doctor calls out.

I put my hands on my head, pacing around the room.

“Okay, Vio, I need you to push!” he calls out again.

Vio screams like the gladiator she is.

I stop and look for a moment. The blood is coming out as a little bit of the head pops out.
